Hi all,
I'm working on a Disappearing 9 patch. Have been tempted to buy a larger ruler to square up my blocks but am wondering how much use I'd get out of it.
Thanks,
lots2do

Kitsie 01-22-2011 08:33 AM

Hi, lots. Mine is 12 1/2".

BellaBoo 01-22-2011 08:34 AM

I have a 16 1/2" Creative Grids Square ruler. That's the biggest with measuring lines. I have larger size square rulers from 17 to 22 that I had the local glass shop cut for me. No lines but I drew an X from corner to corner.

Maggiesmom 01-22-2011 08:37 AM

12.5 and I couldn't do without it.

davidwent 01-22-2011 08:43 AM

I bought 8.5 and am SO sorry I didn't get 12.5!

I have a 12 1/2" but I am going to have several others cut up to 24 1/2" :D:D:D

Stitchnripper 01-22-2011 08:47 AM

12.5

nativetexan 01-22-2011 08:58 AM

20 inch. i got it at Joann's online with a coupon. it has the measurements for side triangles and corner triangles if doing an on point lay out too.

quilter41 01-22-2011 09:05 AM

I have seen a 24". Can't remember who made it. You could Google and look for it.

BKrenning 01-22-2011 09:14 AM

My largest square ruler is 15". Now that I see nativetexan found a 20" one at Joann's--I'll have to find that! The large ones are better for squaring up corners of quilts. Hubby gets upset when I use his carpenter's squares.

Rebecca VLQ 01-22-2011 09:15 AM

I only have a 6.5" but what I *DO* need is a larger cutting mat. The 12x18 works good for most jobs...but then you get to the 12.5" blocks and you're in a pickle...

pjaco 01-22-2011 09:18 AM

12.5

featherweight 01-22-2011 09:58 AM

15 &1/2 is my largest one

mamaw 01-22-2011 10:18 AM

15" is my largest.

Cuilteanna 01-22-2011 10:18 AM

20.5" Creative Grids.

It's not one I use often, but when I need it I'm thrilled that I went ahead and got it.

Holice 01-22-2011 10:33 AM

The square ruler can be a real time saver. I'm now using a 12.5" one for squaring some blocks. I also have the new 12.5" from Omnigrid. It is awesome. Not sure how I will use it but would be good for cutting fat quarters.

It's an Omnigrip 20.5 I bought it for my friend (because I wanted to be able to borrow it) She gave up quilting and gave it back to me along with her stash!!!

Amen, that's how I've purchased all my larger rulers... $26.99 depending on the brand for a 12.5" ruler was outrageous... so I bought the ruler pack that had them all for about $32.99 that included the 12.5" ruler and all other smaller ones down with a 50% off coupon off the one item, another 10% off my total order coupon, and my 10% VIP Discount for 70% off - and I was a very happy camper!

With regards to the question, my largest right now is 12.5" but at some point I will pick up a few that are larger as I have some projects where they would be very useful to have.

Explosive blessings, abundance and inspiration to you all!

I just got that set of 4 Omnigrid squares that the Creative Seamstress described, for about $17 on sale. Until now, I had a 4" and 15 or 16" square plus a 6x12" and 6.5x24" ruler.

Dollysquiltingmom 01-22-2011 11:51 AM

Omni grip 20.5".

sunflower126 01-22-2011 12:41 PM

12 1/2"

gale 01-22-2011 12:43 PM

My biggest is 12.5 and it looks huge to me!

MadQuilter 01-22-2011 01:20 PM

I have the 6 1/2" and I think the large one is 15" but I wish I had the 12 1/2" - That one comes in handy for most swaps. The larger one is a bit awkward at times.

LUANNH 01-22-2011 01:52 PM

16.5 is my largest

LivelyLady 01-22-2011 02:02 PM

My largest is 16 1/2"

Rosyhf 01-22-2011 02:05 PM

My
largest one is a 20 by creative Grids.

bigsister63 01-22-2011 03:07 PM

I bought a 20 x 20 ruler to use when cutting blocks over 6 in. My ususal cutting ruler is 6 x 15. The larger size works really well. It may seem expensive but use your Joann's coupon. It is well worth the money!

lots2do 01-22-2011 03:47 PM

Thanks, think I'll spring for the biggest one I can find at Joann's (with a coupon, of course). :)
