What's Your Current Project?

I am in between right now. My Kaffe Fasset Heritage Quilts book is to arrive today and I want to make the quilt on the cover of it for my niece as a wedding present. My sister said she likes Moroccan colors, hopefully I will choose the right colors for it.
Would love to hear what you are working on or planning to, big or small.

Irishrose2 10-30-2015 10:06 AM

Finishing a Jelly Roll Race quilt and a Christmas table runner for our church bazaar, then back to my second quilt using a Fantasia panel and batiks.
I've run into a problem with the binding on the jrr quilt. I am using a flanged binding and when I miter the join, the colors are off because the strips are not cut the same width. I can't remember how I worked around that in the past.

MissSongbird 10-30-2015 10:09 AM

I have a few in the works. I'm working on Christmas gifts mostly. I have blocks made (ready to be made into a top) for a blue and orange queen-sized bed quilt for my boyfriend. I have a top minus borders (in dark blues, light blues, gold, and silver) for a dance instructor of mine. I'm currently collecting fabric for a stain glass style quilt for my mom. And I just designed a quilt for myself made entirely for snowflake fabric, because darnit I deserve a quilt too lol

And good luck on your quilt. I bet your niece will love the end result.

Pat G 10-30-2015 10:36 AM

I'm working on a quilt with "10 Minute Blocks" with eagles as a theme. Making it for a special friend who helped me through a very difficult summer of emptying my home of 41 yrs. & getting it ready to sell.

Milli 10-30-2015 10:40 AM

Fidget Quilt for my sister and a majestic mountains quilt for her daughter who takes such good care of her.

Jeanne S 10-30-2015 10:45 AM

I am working on three baby quilts for a February charity auction event. One boy, one girl and one in gender neutral brights.

crafty pat 10-30-2015 10:48 AM

A Christmas table runner for my DD. I have just finished cutting out a queen size quilt for her.

tessagin 10-30-2015 11:09 AM

Christmas and doggie beds from Dh's undergarments and holey socks.

SherylM 10-30-2015 11:11 AM

I was planning to start an Irish chain quilt for my BFF this week, but right now I have a bum shoulder. The Chiropractor's been working on it and it's getting better, but until it's squared away, I can't wrangle fabric yardage.

I decided that this was a good time to start the scrappy string quilt that I've wanted to make for a while, since it's just working with small pieces of fabric. So I'm sitting here in front of the TV making my way through a pile of scraps and stash.

Boston1954 10-30-2015 11:12 AM

I have a Tumbler with Christmas fabrics for my sister. Not really working on it too much lately, but if I miss Dec. 25, her birthday is Jan. 16

ManiacQuilter2 10-30-2015 11:18 AM

I have started a scrappy Majestic Mountain from Bonnie Hunter. Stuck until I can find out which way to press the seams. Also am trying to finish up Christmas gifts along with a Pink/Orange Falling Charm quilt.

ekuw 10-30-2015 01:55 PM

I have a Halloween table topper I need to finish tonight if I want to use it this year :-) After that I am going to do a Christmas warm wishes. Still trying to whittle down the Christmas fabric, otherwise it will sit around for another year.

Mariposa 10-30-2015 02:04 PM

Doing little bags for my DIL's classroom, placemats for a wedding gift, and misc. Christmas gifts...

Stitchnripper 10-30-2015 02:12 PM

I just started a jelly roll race. We are moving to another state and most of my things related to quilting/sewing are a
ready there. I kept out one sewing machine and some thread but don't have any cutting mats here. I'm using Kaffe Fasset strips and they are cheerful. It will be easy to put away if we get any lookers on this house.

Tartan 10-30-2015 02:16 PM

Working in cutting my scraps into 2X5 inch strips for a scrap quilt. I am finding I have lots of some colours but not others. I have decided to just sew them up into my blocks and not worry about the repeats.

regm 10-30-2015 02:43 PM

One of the groups I'm involved with is doing a slightly different round robin. We have to start with a strip, not a center square. The next participant makes a strip based on a theme but doesn't attach it. At the end , we attach the strips in the order that we want. Should be interesting. My theme is l wish I lived on or near water.

Got a couple of projects going. I'm piecing a bear paw top for a shower curtain - quilt for the bed is all pieced. I want to quilt the shower curtain first. Also working on a scrap nine patch top and I have a squares for a quilt top on the design wall that still needs work.

QuiltnMyra 10-30-2015 03:16 PM

Hand pieced Double Wedding Ring, donation I Spy quilt and FMQ practice on place mats. Lots of other projects waiting their turn for some attention.

cjsews 10-30-2015 03:32 PM

I just finished a disappearing hour glass that I was not happy with. So I am using the leftovers to make another lap quilt

IrishgalfromNJ 10-30-2015 03:55 PM

I'm making some tote bags and I'm also making a big star block to make into a shower curtain.

Elise1 10-30-2015 04:16 PM

I am working on Judy Niemeyer's Fire Island Hosta, (paper pieced).

Due to tendinitis of my elbow, I am doing all cutting and ironing with my non-dominate hand. Interesting way to sew.

maryb119 10-30-2015 04:18 PM

I will begin a memory quilt for my niece using her dad's neckties. Her dad, my brother, passed away in March. I just finished a baby quilt for my new grandson.

MadQuilter 10-30-2015 04:28 PM

I got on the Mitered Log Cabin wagon and am cutting a gazillion strips for a fully scrappy look. 70 blocks have already been paper-pieced.

Next week I am heading to Pismo Beach for a quilt retreat. I think I will make another scrappy quilt with diamonds. Not sure on that yet.

Doggramma 10-30-2015 04:36 PM

I'm working on red/white blocks with small touches of gray. It started out as Farmers Wife 6" blocks, but it's morphed into 12" and a few 24" blocks too. I'm about ready to start thinking about a modern, quirky setting for the blocks.

Buckeye Rose 10-30-2015 05:32 PM

Hmmm....where to start? 2 couch throws with very minor applique in process.....1 memory quilt (kind of) made from Army fatigues that is waiting on someone else to finish the embroidered squares.....1 tote bag daughter wants me to make that will be similar to one she found (she thinks I am the Martha Stewart of sewing/quilting....LOL)....2 pillows for sisterinlaw......all to be done by Christmas! Nobody wants anything until I am booked full and then they all want something and they want it now!

EasyPeezy 10-30-2015 07:18 PM

Working on my first PP. It's a mini log cabin. Hopefully I can complete cutting
tomorrow and start sewing. Should be fun. I enjoyed the practice piece.
Love the accuracy of PP.:)

lynnie 10-30-2015 07:47 PM

I'm working on finishing the binding on 6 quilts. You can tell I do not like to do that.
I'm stepping out of the world of quilting and I'm going to make a Kuspuk apron and a Kuspuk top. I'm finding out that it is really difficult to buy trim via way of online.

sewingsuz 10-30-2015 09:37 PM

I am working on Two Circle Wedge tree skirts. I am readu to cut wedges out with the 10 degree ruler when it arrives in the mail. I am also working on a quilt for grandson and which is Bordered Periwinkle from the block book. I AM USE BATIKS with a cream boarder. I also want to make a few more thing as gifts if I have any time left.

BETTY62 10-30-2015 10:11 PM

A quilt I started over a year ago.

beaqltr 10-31-2015 12:02 AM

I was just in two autumn swaps. I always cut out extra so I don't have to start from the beginning if I make a mistake. I am finishing off those blocks.

Next up some thank you gifts.

zennia 10-31-2015 12:34 AM

My two grandson are boy scouts so I am making them tent themed quilts. doing a lot of paper piecing on them.

DresiArnaz 10-31-2015 12:53 AM

I just finished a quilt for my 19 y/o son and did matching pillow shams for his and my daughter's quilt.

Trying to build a few things for Christmas but feeling kind of under the weather off and on so hard to get motivated.

My current project is placemats. I have 8 of them pieced and quilted-just need to bind them.

Might make a train panel quilt for my son. My daughter wants me to design a purse using a really cute button down shirt that she outgrew. Will use a hobo style bag for a pattern I guess. Still looking for inspiration. Maybe have to dream something up somehow. (Yikes) She also has an insatiable appetite for zipper pouches.

I used to sew a lot at night. Now that school has started I can't because of the noise. :(

beckyw 10-31-2015 01:01 AM

I just got done making fleece pants. Making Christmas ornaments for exchange. Fold star potholders for gifts. Going to make fabric postcards for exchange and not use Christmas cards this year. I got l list of thing to make for Christmas if I get them done fine if not I will give them some other time.

sputano 10-31-2015 03:18 AM

I have several projects in the works. One is called "Falling Leaves", I just finished FMQ on my new mid-arm frame yesterday. I also have another oversized queen quilt that is a fall quilt with hand-dyed squares that I need to load on my frame. Then I have a Christmas quilt that I would like to get quilted before Nov. 13. I am going to have to have my hip replacement replaced. It has failed. Yuk. But, hopefully will help with pain after I recover. Trying to get these done is going to be a chore, but, hopefully I can get it done. When I figure out how to post pictures I will post them.

pjnesler 10-31-2015 03:21 AM

I'll be kitting up my new Bonnie Hunter Mystery for 2015!!! After completing 4 quilts earlier this year I've taken a break and working on counted cross stitch projects and been loving every minute of it, but have been looking forward to the new mystery since I finished the last one!

Monale 10-31-2015 03:52 AM

You ask about current project - but with me, that's usually in plural! :o The one that has highest priority right now is quilt for Christmas for my god-daughter that loves elephants. I'm using Warm Wishes and some cute fabric. Then there's a HST pinwheel lap quilt where the top is almost done, just need to sew the last few blocks together. And as I was on holiday, I've actually just started an EPP project as I needed something to hand-sew. At some point after that, I want to hand-quilt the star quilt I showed here before (quilt top is finished). And then there are a few more UFOs on the way... I'm the same with reading (another big hobby of mine): I NEVER am reading only ONE book at the time... ;)

sandy l 10-31-2015 03:59 AM

Did you take a class for this somewhere or did you have a book? I looked at some of these and since I love log cabins, would love some more info on them.

kyquiltlover1942 10-31-2015 04:26 AM

I , as always, am working on several quilts. One is especially one for ME. It is called "Angels comimg to carry me home". Another one I am working on for the state fair, but that is only when I am feeling good enough to try to make it perfect. As always, I have 4 or 5 waiting to get my longarm repaired. and dozens floating around in my head, waiting to b e made.
