I agree. If you cannot see it or even find anymore then I think it may have turned into a compulsion.

For me, 'too much' (of anything) is when:

It is easier to go out and buy more of whatever than to look for whatever that I KNOW I have in my stash.

When do you have too much fabric? When you qualify to be on the hoarding shows, where you can't walk thru your house or cook or do anything else because of the fabric. As long as you have bare spaces on your floor, and a place to eat, sleep and cook that is void of fabric and your bills are paid and you are happy, then you are good to go.

Let me add that I have bought less than $20 worth of fabric since last summer. I put it all on shelves (well most of it) and I was happy with what I had and surprised that I had so much. More than I thought. Before displaying what I have, I always thought I needed more because it was out of site and out of mind. So for me, the one bookcase full, a few cubbies and some in boxes (only a couple) that I haven't went thru makes me happy. Now, I only go to buy when I need something and I no longer roam endlessly thru the store to see what I need. Now, if I could only do that at the grocery store, I might be able to save up enough to go on a real vacation.

You are good until your LQS starts calling and asking if you have some of this or a little of that.

My favorite LQS is closing. The whole store is 40% off. I said something to my husband that if I go I will come out at least $200 poorer. He said If you have a use for it, go to the shop. I almost 71yrs old and have heart failure. Can you guess who is picking up her sisters and Mother and going shopping today? ME!! My daughter tells me not to put anything in my sewing room in the will, just put her name on the door and mail her the key.

When it spills over into every room in your house and you sort clothing and donate it in order to make room for more in the drawers of your dresser!

It isn't that you have too much fabric. It's all the ideas that come with seeing the fabric then the sales and encouragement.

Probably never.
