When do you have too much fabric?

First let me say I needed more fabric like I nee another 20 pounds. That said I got an e-mail from the LQS that they were having a sale on a close out line of Jinny Beyer. Her reds are so beautiful and I love her golds and yellows, and greens and blues. Well you know what I mean!!! And they had a 20 pack of her fat quarters for $19.95. Well $130.00 later I left there a very happy woman. And stopped at the shop in Tacoma and bought $73.00 worth of fabric for the twin greats coming soon. And I have an order coming from Connecting threads. I am so glad I have a DH that understands and encourages me.

And shop hop this month!!! My mantra :::: I will not shop::::I will not shop::::I will not shop:::
Bet that don't work either!!!! :p:p:o

For me, it's too much fabric when I can no longer keep it organized enough to find what I am looking for quickly.

there is no such thing as 'too much fabric' unless you can not use what you have- just stuff it in boxes in the attic or basement (hoarder) and never part with any...I have (literally probably a ton of fabric) I am in it all the time- when any of my family, quilty friends, crafty people come by & see something they want, need, love I have no problem sharing-as long as it is on the shelves it is 'free game' for anyone who has a use for it- if I am in a current project the fabrics I need are out- anything else they can help them selves to- only rule---they have to use it- not waste it....my daughter, sister, granddaughter's & nephew all love (shopping) in my sewing room. :D

If I die before I get it all sewed up. Then I guess I had too much fabric. Until then, I will continue to keep making more quilts.

When you can't close the door to your sewing room and the floor is sagging from the weight! For me I think it is a balance between having enough to be able to shop your stash and satisfying the need to buy.

BTW, ArloJo, what quilt shops did you visit? I used to live in Tacoma, but that was before I took up quilting. I'm hoping to visit my family in the Tacoma/Seattle area sometime this summer and would love to visit some quilt shops.

When your floor falls in - YES, it did happen to me about a year ago. We had to take everything out of that room, take out the floor, clear to the ground. Really weird to open that door and step out on the ground, inside. Before I could put everything back in my son and his wife split up and he took over that empty room. I had to buy about $200 worth of plastic totes to put all of my fabric in and shift it around to all parts of my house and garage. But, I keep buying it and buying more totes to put it in. Plus, my BFF passed away and I got some of her fabric.
