Thank you ! I like that idea! I to have no plans for competition but want each quilt liked/loved.

maryb119 04-21-2011 02:51 PM

I like the blocks you made. Very pretty. They look perfect to me.

LivelyLady 04-21-2011 02:53 PM

It's sweet and it looks really good to me
I make quilts because I enjoy it and as the others have said they are made to be loved to pieces :-D

Jammin' Jane 04-21-2011 03:03 PM

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!
But don't forget to scream!
Your blocks look fantastic, so you conquered!!
Great job!

greenini 04-21-2011 03:03 PM

I think they look great, you've got permission from the QB to move on :-) :-)

WANNABEE 04-21-2011 03:05 PM

Adorable!

amma 04-21-2011 03:06 PM

If it is for friends or family? I am blessed that they are very forgiving  and enough comes much quicker :D:D:D

I LOVE that Donna Dewberry fabric!!

harvsstuff 04-21-2011 03:14 PM

The very first quilt show I went with my husband. In a somewhat loud voice while looking at a quilt that won a ribbon he said "look her points dont match up either". So since then I stand 3 ft back and if it looks good to me thats all that matters. The quilt police are not permitted in my house. I had a relative bring that to my attention while looking at one of my quilts yet she asked me to make a quilt for her daughters wedding, go figure. I did not make it for her.

DawnMarie 04-21-2011 03:15 PM

If you can't notice it at a glance 10 foot away, it's perfect. lol

AUQuilter 04-21-2011 03:41 PM

I think it looks great! If you don't tell, they will never know you had to get that seam ripper out.

sueisallaboutquilts 04-21-2011 03:43 PM

Gee I'm sure you're the only person to dull a seam ripper on the whole planet! lol :D:D
Love the blocks!!!

cathyvv 04-21-2011 03:45 PM

I let go of perfect when I'm darn good and ready to. I find that comes earlier with each quilt!

lillybeck 04-21-2011 03:46 PM

I quit counting the times I had to rip on this baby quilt I am working on right now. Finally got it sandwiched and started quilting and my machine decided to act up. I am now taking out all the quilting I had in because I am using white thread on the top and deep rose on the back and guess what is showing on the back.

athenagwis 04-21-2011 03:52 PM

I very rarely rip seams out, done is better than perfect to me. :) I don't make quilts for anyone that won't love them no matter their imperfections.

Cheers!
Rachel

debcavan 04-21-2011 03:54 PM

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, it that sweet with the faces.

People look at things as a whole, don't stress so much. Perfect is overrated. Done is the best

dunster 04-21-2011 04:02 PM

Mistakes add character to the quilt. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

lindyline 04-21-2011 04:06 PM

Strive for perfection, settle for greatness. I think your blocks are great. Therefore objective achieved.

gal288 04-21-2011 04:08 PM

As long as it's reasonably flat & with 1/8" of the finished size, I quit ripping!

I will mark the block with a note, so I don't forget the size when piecing the top, adjust the seam allowance, and remeasure the blocks after piecing to be sure it's true to size.

LeslieFrost 04-21-2011 04:20 PM

How often do I say: Good enough? Almost every day!

eparys 04-21-2011 04:20 PM

Really cute blocks!!

As for me, I try not to count the number of times I rip stuff out. I have learned that I need to press each seam - AND if it does not "look" square or straight - I need to measure it and solve the problem before I continue. Sometimes this does not require ripping out - just a "straighter seam" lol.

Sassylass 04-21-2011 04:27 PM

I think it looks lovely..it is made with love and you did a great job!!

MadQuilter 04-21-2011 05:10 PM

I think ahead to determine if the next block (or row) will be affected. Then I ask if I can live with it. Over time, I have come to realize that some little flaws will not show up in the finished project but it took a lot of trial and error on my part to "get" that.

I used to take anything apart that was more than 3/16" off. Well, glad to report that those days are over. I have gotten quite good at fudging, tweaking, adjusting and making pretty things.

Your block is a pretty thing. Don't be too hard on yourself, go slow and do your best.

deedum 04-21-2011 05:20 PM

Just asking myself that question all week! I finished a very lovely quilt although I am not quite happy with it. Maybe 95% I am. Debating on ripping it out and redoing it or giving it for the birthday gift it was intended! Considering, once I give it away, the cats will probably lay on it, it is probably good enough!

Mattee 04-21-2011 05:24 PM

I quilt for fun. Ripping isn't fun, so I just don't do it. A quilt with character keeps you just as warm as a quilt that is "perfectly" made.

Dee Dee 04-21-2011 05:27 PM

Well that is very cute. It does look challenging. Experienced quilters often tell me not to worry, "It will quilt out." Guess they mean mistakes are not as noticeable once it's quilted.

kaykwilts 04-22-2011 02:50 AM

Beautiful blocks...I say move on...no need to waste your time ripping again. For me, I just love yo-yo's. When my points don't match, and I don't feel like ripping, I just stick a yo-yo in the center. Who cares...my quilts are still loved just as much!!

justlooking 04-22-2011 03:21 AM

My seam ripper and I are best friends. Love your blocks.

quilter68 04-22-2011 03:28 AM

Adorable!

mshollysd 04-22-2011 03:49 AM

Somewhere I heard that if you are looking for perfect in quilting, you will never get anything finished. I try to match but sometimes that doesn't work either. At the end of the day, what is the worst that is going to happen. Someone is going to love your finished quilt, not your UFO

lvaughan 04-22-2011 03:54 AM

Your blocks look great to me. I would say move on if it were mine. When I have a block that I just can't get right if I have at least 1/8" for a seam allowance I use it, I do stitch it twice. If anyone on the board thinks this is a bad idea please reply. I am still a newbie and have lots to learn.

jolo 04-22-2011 04:01 AM

I try for perfection BUT I do not sweat it, if the seams are imperfect. If I put something upside down or wrong other ways I will ripppeppppt

emerald46 04-22-2011 04:02 AM

I agree totally with cathyvv. If it looks good without my glasses it is pretty darn near perfect. Your block is adorable and will make a precious quilt! Get busy!

sewingladydi 04-22-2011 04:19 AM

I'm much less of a perfectionist than I used to be. Done is better than another UFO.

Bobbielinks 04-22-2011 04:24 AM

Love your blocks. They are so very pretty and I don't see a thing wrong with them.

Jaos 04-22-2011 04:25 AM

What sweet blocks! They look great to me.
