when pressing your block seams do you use any spray starch or mist with water?
If they don't lay nicely, yes I do :D:D:D
yeppers sure do..I use best press
Only if they're not behaving. I use steam all the time so I don't generally have the problem.

I use best press also.
Mostly steam. But use starch and water when needed. I starch my fabric so heavy it is like paper.
If I have starched the fabrics prior to cutting its usually not needed, if not I definately starch, it helps to keep them where I want them come quilting time.
Yep. Starch, water, whatever is needed.
seldom do i have a need to use anything while constructing my blocks- if the fabrics need any starch-or water it happens before i cut- so while constructing the blocks i do not chance distorting the block with moisture-
I do a lot of "persuasive pressing"! I beat them into submission!
Usually steam works for me !!! :)
I use sizing.
Most of the time I just use steam, but some times I do use sizing...and just started using the Best press...got some as a gift and like it.

Usually steam works but have pulled out the starch before.
I use a very small piece of cloth which I spray with water then put it on the
seam and press the seam once. Remove the cloth and continue pressing with a dry iron. I don't like water or steam to get all over as it can cause some unwanted shrinkage and distort my block. My seams are as flat as they can get. :-D |
I starch my fabric every time I lay an iron to it.

I use a spray bottle of water. Once in a blue moon I use starch.

I always starch :D
I starch my fabric stiff before I cut anything out, then all I need to do is press.
Love Best Press - seams go where I want them to go! I'm the boss!
I seldom need anything but a dry iron during block or quilt construction and when I do, it's just a quick shot of steam. I never, ever, starch fabric and use water only if necessary when pressing yardage before cutting.
Don't use starch. I do steam press the bajeeze out of them though.
always use steam.....usually do not have a problem...
I use a dry iron since the day 20 years ago when it (the iron) wet tan water all over my last block in a 30 block quilt with a white background. Arrgh! It still raises my blood pressure when I think of it. ;(
Would not even think about "no starch" My favorite of all is "Niagara, Non Aerosol"Biodegradable, does not flake. Plastic container. Pump spray with a wide spreading nozzle. Dry iron only

The non-aerosol Niagara is my favorite too. A cheaper/better alternative to Best Press.

Yep. Both. Whatever it needs.
