I've forgotten the name of the lady who invented this technique and her software company name.
The software digitizes your photos and figures out how to make it into a quilt. Does anyone know her name, software company name, and where I can buy the software? Thanks! Blessings, MaryAnna |
I have one, I think it's called BIG QUILT
|
Interesting...I didn't know there was a software for that. I just put mine into PowerPoint and resize them or add borders before I print.

Didn't realize there was a special program. I do my labels in Microsoft Word - set it up in columns and you can do 6 to a page. If you add pictures it will size them to fit into the column. I've also set up pictures that way and can use the formatting in Word to size them and add writing, whatever you want. It came on the computer too.

MaryAnna... I remember that quilt for a little bit ago. The creator used small squares of different tones/colors to look like image of her daughter... Right?

Here are two topics that were recently posted about fabric portraits if that helps.

Sorry, didn't understand what you were asking for.

I think you're talking about mosaic quilts. Is this what you are looking for:
Tammie Bowser http://quiltedphoto.com/ I have several of her books and one of the earlier versions of software. |
Yes it is Tammie Bowser. I took a class with her when she had version 1.0 out and it is now up to 3.0 Photo Xpress. She also has software called Valuations which allows you to scan your fabric in and then sorts them according to the value!
She is a wonderfully warm person who really takes the time to answer questions and be as helpful as possible! |
OH I saw this at the sewing expo my daughter loved the idea of doing it with the software.

yes - it's Tammie Bowser. I love her technique! I've made 4 photo quilts so far, and I'm working on another one right now. I think it's just the neatest thing. She's on Facebook, too - you can 'friend' her.
I won some of her software on a Facebook contest by having the most people 'like' my post about it. I love it! You can just google Tammie Bowser or Tammie Bowser Mosaic Quilt and get to her. Have fun with it! |
What an interesting idea! I didn't know there was software for it. Learn something new....

I learn sooooo much from you guys everyday, and all I have to do is just read. " Thank ya'll so much", as Chief Brenda Lee Johnson would say.

Tammie Bowser...Yes this is the lady from Simply Quilts many years ago! She sells a grid on a mat where you can draw your own lines on any stabilizer, or you can buy the "Quilt Fuse" pre-drawn squares on the fusible in either 1.5" or 2" squares. Occasionally you'll even see 1" squares, but I'd hate to try to make that one lay flat. BTY, I found a nice lady from ebay who also sells on her own website, some of the fusible grid cheaply:
Contact: Lisa Meyer 478-318-5860, 126 Alexandria Dr. Macon, GA. 31210. On ebay she is "lisameyer36". |
I need to follow you around so that I can learn to do that. If I can see some one do it, then I understand how to do it. Did yu take a class to learn it or learn it from a book.
|
You can see example of Tammy Bowser's work on www.quilterstv.com.
|
Here is a site someone posted a few weeks ago, where you can upload your picture to. I do not think it is by the person you are talking about though.

Good idea!

Yes to all those who said Tammie Bowser. I am not using her software at the moment, but do have one of her books fo sale. It really works! All the time you are putting your fabrics together, you think it will not turn out. But, once pieced and quilted, it is amazing. She has a blog you can sign up for also.

I came across this site as I was surfing today. It's for a free software download called Quilt Assist. http://www.cosman.nl/software_en.html here's the software description
"QuiltAssistant is free design-software that can help you to turn your photos into quilts. Rather than the traditional approach of breaking up the photo into little squares ('watercolor style') it allows you to divide the photo into pieces of arbitrary size and shape. On completing your design, you can print templates including seam allowances. A picture is worth a thousand words:" I haven't downloaded yet as my computer is being stupid arrrg, but hope to download soon |

It seems that they had issues with it and had to de-bug the program per their statement towards the bottom of the page. The program itself seems cool! Sadly this is a very old thread in internet terms, 10 years old. Your disk should contain some information on the product/maker unless it was just a download stored on a disk.
Quilt Assistant linked above is still a going concern: https://quiltassistant.com/ Electric Quilt has really upped their photo quilt capabilities in the latest version as well. We have many other ways of dealing with this sort of thing now and it might be the perfect time to look at some of the other solutions. |
Try sewart.com. Her name is Tammie Bowser. She also did a couple of video on Sewing with Nancy that shows her process. The software is very good and the web site will also give the schedule of her virtual classes.

Blessings, MaryAnna The woman you're thinking of may be Tammie Bowser. She's located in South Pasadena, CA. Her books and software can be found at Amazon. Google her. She's incredible and she's also my teacher and friend. Good luck |
