Batiks, clearance, notions, check out. I have TOO many ideas of my own to make without clocgging up my head with patterns.
If I made one quilt from each book I already own, it would take me the rest of my life. |
Flannels! I have to pet them first.
Yes, I to am drawn, like a magnet, to the batiks, then the children's, or fun prints.
Whatever catches my eye when I walk in. Then I mosey and wander and dilly-dally.
I find fabric stores overwhelming and initially it is hard to focus on any one thing. I usually cruise through the store (my "oohing and aahing" is usually audible and can be heard by everyone). If I don't have a specific need in mind for a specific quilt it is quite hard because I just want it all.
I usually see if they have any 30's prints first, then I love to check to see if they have any neat animal prints. I love to look at the books and magazines, too!
I go straight to the clearance section. :P I find a lot of cotton fabric and most of the time it is more than 50% or more off. 8-) Then I look at the new line. Books and gadgets. And make a second round through the fabric once more. I have not gone to the fabric store for three weeks now. :? Maybe I can go at the end of May. I have to be careful in a couple months I have to go the oncology for my 6 months check up and it is costly.
Brights and large floral, not batiks for me. Once I found out I could not hand quilt them I block them out. LOL.
I walk in and size up the store. In Branson, there is a store called Quilts Quilts Quilts and I start in the left aisle where books and calendars are, and take one aisle at a time - just like the grocery store!
Always the batiks for me. The stores usually put them towards the front because they are beautiful and more expensive. They try to get you coming through the door :)
