My husband and I have a spare bedroom that we use for an office and for my sewing room. But times are hard so we're going to rent the room out to a college student. Now I have to relocate all my sewing things. Where do you sew in your home? Do you have a permanent place or do you just set up and then put away when you're done? I'm thinking of storing my fabric in a box under my bed, my sewing supplies in a dresser drawer, and keeping my sewing machine next to my dining table.

In my living room. Cut on dining table, design walk hangs over back sliding glass door!!!! Tough, but, also keeps me from leaving it messy or isolating myself from the hubby and kids!

In my bedroom during the summer. During the winter in the rest of the house, because I don't have heat in my bedroom.

We have extra rooms but I dont want to be in back of the house alone. Since we're empty nesters, I'm use my dining room area. Hubby and I can at least communicate while he's watching sports and I'm at the sewing maching.

We have a spare bedroom that houses my sewing machine and stash, but I often find that I move the machine to the dining room because the table is so much more accommodating. This winter, I intend to finish a space in the basement and move everything down there. Then the guest room will be available for guests! LOL

I have a small room that i convinced everybody that it should belong to me because my husband has the garage ;-)

I have an extra bedroom since all my kids have left home. Everything is permanently set up which is good, I don't want to move a longarm if not necessary.

I was booted out of a nook I was using upstairs, to make a sleeping area for my grandaughter when she visits. I moved my "stuff" into the computer room/guest room down stairs but find it a bit crowded now. My daughter is moving out and I may move to her room, and my son is going back to Law school this weekend. I just want to be settled. I have a lot of thinking to do...actually her room could be the guest room and I could move the bed out of the old guest room...oh, brother I do need to think.

After 25 years of marriage I finally have a computer/sewing room. It's the 3rd bedroom. Daughter is almost 41 with kids of her own...and son is 39 with kids (oldest starts college on Monday). So when we built this house I FINALLY had a room where I didn't have to clean up everything after sewing.

First home was a mobile home so I sewed on the dining room table. Son was in a high chair but daughter ate at the table with us so I had one spot at the table and the sewing machine could sit out but the rest had to be put away. Next house...we only lived there a year so didn't sew at all. Next house again...had to sew on the dining room table...we had a breakfast bar so ate most meals there. Company coming...had to clean off the table.

Now finally the ironing board can stay out...always hated putting it away and dragging it back out the next day. lol Right now my fabric is in boxes and bags because I have more than I ever had since starting to quilt. Before is was mostly clothes and a few pair of curtains. I have an old antique bureau that was in my mother's family...needs refinished. So hubby promised he would get that fixed up in the fall and then I will have plenty of storage space. Also getting rid of my parents desk...giving it to our daughter. Now I will have a whole wall free so am going to buy a 6' table for my sewing machine. I need more left side space...right now it is sitting on top of my mothers Kenmore cabinet machine.

More info than you probably wanted to read...lol. But if you need some extra money and have a person willing to pay the rent...then you should do fine with your plan.

Good luck!
