Lots of good suggestions. Just be sure and check with the charity first. I live in a rural area and a number of years back a quilting group in one of the neighboring towns made small quilts and gave to the sheriff's office to use and after a couple of years most of them ended up in a clothing bank in my town.

Try your local 4-H club. They teach girls to sew, quilt, dressmaking, etc. They would love your fabric. They might be able to use the fabrics for pillows and other homemaking projects.

Check with your local Police Dept about an abused women's shelter. They will not give you the address (obvious reasons) but will either deliver them or tell you of the agency that works with them. We have a domestic violence volunteer group that accompanies the police on a call to a home to help take the women and kids out and they usually leave with just the clothes on their backs. (Also, for guilds or groups or scouts to donate bags of toiletries and books or small toys for the kids would be wonderful.)

If there is a dialysis center near you, their patients might appreciate them, or chemo patients really appreciate them during treatment (I have made them for a few friends with cancer)

Another thought or two. I have made over-sized tote bags for both the women's shelter and DCFS. Both groups usually arrive with no "real" luggage. I also, have made pillow cases for local families after they lost their belongings in a house fire. People are not that concerned with pattern on the fabric, they just want something usable. Is there a local church that is sponsoring an immigrant family? They usually need items to set up a household.

the nurse that visited mom from hospice gave her a quilt, was as you described. Kind of a prayer quilt. Perhapsyou could check with something like that. Maybe a local church has a prayer shawl ministry and would accept your quilts, also

You would be surprised how beautiful quilts are with multiple of a shade.
If you h ave a pattern that calls for blue, cut from all your blues.
Search google for scrap quilts, and go from there. Just because they fall under the Scrap unbrella doesn't mean they can't be elegant and beautiful.

The need is great and they accept all sizes. You can specify that your quilts go to an *elder*. They also have a need for quilts for adult women that are in shelters due to abuse. They would be pleased if you would consider them. And, just a suggestion, florals are great for teen girls, too!

Many years ago. My oldest daughter and I lived at a women's shelter for the normal reason, and when I arrived, I was given a quilt made by a volunteer. I remember how much that quilt helped me pull myself together, knowing some stranger cared enough to work so hard and just give it away to comfort a stranger (me) and that quilt gave birth to my life long volunteerism. Because of that quilt, I raised my daughters to be giving people too. You just never know what effect a donated quilt will have. Some person I will never know, changed my life, and created three more 'givers' with her/his gift. Bless you all for your giving heart.
Also, check with your local police or fire department. Some of them have raffles and drawings as fundraisers for community projects. Our local police department has a community group that has given helmets to kids for bikes, bikes to kids and disabled adults. They also recently funded a skate park for our community youth. The fire departments host class field trips for the kids, and each child gets a little badge, or plastic helmets, and raffles help fund these things. Quilts for these things could use up an awful lot of floral fabric. (Also libraries have raffle fund raisers to buy new books, check with them too.)

You might check for womens shelters or family shelters. Some times when a mom and her kids need to leave home for safety sake, they can stay at a shelter. Likewise, when people or families become homeless, they can stay in shelters for families. THese will also be more available in larger towns. Also, check with fire departments, they may have info on people who have lost their homes to fire or tornado.
