I love Aurifil for piecing hands down. I get it at Fabric.com. Their price is competitive if not lower than other places and they have free shipping for $35 or more order. I stick with neutrals - gray, tan, white. Fabric.com has a nice selection of fabric as well.
A lot of my friends love Connecting Threads for their thread. I recently bought a spool but haven't used it much. I will use it to quilt. I don't like Aurifil for quilting so much because it is a thin thread and I like quilting to show a bit more than it does with that thread. I usually don't have a $50 order to Connecting Threads for free shipping so usually go in on an order with some friends. I do like their fabric as well. For colors if I'm trying to match I try to hit JoAnn's on sale with Gutermann thread. If I'm in desperate need of thread I'll go to Walmart which is only 3 miles away and buy Coats and Clark. JoAnn's is 30 miles. I try not to run out however. |
I get my thread from redrockthread.com. They have a lot of the major brands. I buy Aurafil and they carry all the different weights and colors. I have had good service from them when I order. You might want to give them a try.

I'm with Sewnoma... it irks me that fabric.com doesn't put the thread # on their Aurifil choices. I have an order coming this week - and I need to mark those spools (somehow) with what fabric.com calls them so I can re-order the same thing. Annoying.
It's nice getting it for about $2-$3 less a spool than the LQS's... and don't think that the LQS's don't get their share of $$ from me... lol... my last binge there was $200 by the time I let my granddaughter munchkin get some FQs, too. :) |
I use all brands. I like very thin thread for piecing. Connecting Threads Essential Pro on the cone is very good thread for the cost. It's 70 wt, thin and strong.

Handcocks of Paducha has 20% off right now and free shipping in the US for orders over $35. Just a FYI and ConnectingThreads is selling their thread for under 2 dollars right now.

i use superior thread for all my machines.

I use discount embroidery.com for my Aurifil quilting and Isacord embroidery thread. Free shipping and low price

I have a sort of similar gripe with CT thread...the colors aren't on the spool anymore once you take the wrapping off. That bugs me too. For a long time I tried to keep little labels with each spool but they got lost track of and so now all my thread is just there in a bin and I have no idea what color is what. I wish they would at least sell a color chart, so when I need to reorder a particular blue, I could figure out which one it is. |
