As a Catholic, we had this little ditty we said when something was missing: "Tony, Tony, come around. Something's lost that needs to be found." (St. Anthony is the patron saint of missing things.) As you say it, picture holding the missing item. I've had great success with this. It's like you get led to the place where it is.

Seriously, how does this happen? I've been looking for my glasses for three weeks. This house will be spotless by the time I find them. I enlisted the help of my husband to lift every piece of furniture to check under. I am now systematically cleaning out every drawer and cupboard in every room, little by little. My husband wants me to just go buy another pair - no way, they are here somewhere! This happened once before and I did buy new glasses. The old ones appeared one evening folded neatly and sitting in the middle of the living room floor. Creepy. I hope your tea cop pin cushion appears soon for you. Good luck.
I'll admit my sewing stuff is a bit more organized today-----------I misplaced my rotary cutter blades--------and finally found them. |

It probably ran away with the throat plate I bought for my grandmother's treadle machine. I brought it home and put it somewhere "so I would know where it was when I got ready to put it on." That's been 2 years ago and I'm still looking. Wherever I put it must have been a really safe place!
ohhhhhhhhhhh nooooooooooooo! I'm not waiting 2 years to find my cutting board. It's big and in the side of a tub--------------------hoping hubby didn't carry it off to the barn. |
Wow!!! Just found my BOM from LQS with the Tony ditty. Been looking for 2 days for it. LOL

Where is it hiding?

I make pincushions using antique tea cups and saucers. I have a favorite that I use by my sewing machine. Last week when I got home from teaching a quilting class, I carried it into the house and put it down. Now I can not find it anywhere! Not kidding! As it is only DH and puppy living with me, we have looked and looked and looked. Can anyone suggest where this tea cup pincushion could have hidden?!? Suggestions wanted!

I had used my small electric table top grill and had to remove the electric element to clean the rest of the grill. I laid it on the counter and when I had finished the cleaning I proceeded to replace the element. It wasn't there. I looked absolutely everywhere, even in the waste basket (just in case). That was about 4 months ago and it is still missing. I know if I would throw away the rest, it would show up. Don't despair, I almost have and I hate admitting defeat. Good luck. |
I do one of two things when this happens to me. I walk back into the house the way I did that day. This may help to refresh your memory. The other thing I do, is to fall asleep thinking about it. I wake up in the morning and it's the first thing on my mind. I can walk right to it. I need a well rested brain to make up for the tired one.:) I like PenniF's way of thinking, too. One of my friend's found her mail on the water heater, downstairs, once. She had no clue how it got there. Good luck! I sure hope you find it!

Do you wear them to drive, or hang them from the front of your shirt when you drive? I've "lost" my glasses to the seat belt many times. When I release it, it catches on the glasses, which I often hang in the top of my shirt. The glasses then fall into the back seat or on the ground as I open the car door. Can't tell you how many times I've lost them before realizing how this happened.

Ok, what works for me is retracing my steps. Just think where you went after you opened the door. Maybe, like me, it was the bathroom. Ha, ha! Good Luck!
