Where is it hiding?

I make pincushions using antique tea cups and saucers. I have a favorite that I use by my sewing machine. Last week when I got home from teaching a quilting class, I carried it into the house and put it down. Now I can not find it anywhere! Not kidding! As it is only DH and puppy living with me, we have looked and looked and looked. Can anyone suggest where this tea cup pincushion could have hidden?!? Suggestions wanted!

nativetexan 09-27-2012 07:25 AM

left at class? or in your car somewhere?? are you sure you brought it inside? Hmmm, well keep looking. it's there somewhere. good luck.

MattieMae 09-27-2012 07:30 AM

Sure it's not in the cupboard with the other china? ~;)

Tartan 09-27-2012 07:48 AM

In the cup cupboard, dishwasher, fridge (inside or on top), in your fabric that you took to class, beside your keys....that's all I can think of right now.

crafty pat 09-27-2012 07:54 AM

Look in the next place you went after you thought you put it down. I am always finding my car keys in the kitchen or bathroom, the first place I headed after I dropped my hand bag.

Toni C 09-27-2012 10:48 AM

Did you take any other materials with you?Where are they if so.

BellaBoo 09-27-2012 11:03 AM

Doesn't this make you crazy! It happens to me more then I care to admit. When you find it you'll say Now I remember! I have misplaced my grandmother's hand sewn hexagon quilt. I know where I put it last but it's not there now. I keep saying it's misplaced because to think someone took it would hurt too much.

PenniF 09-27-2012 11:30 AM

This might sound nutty - but it's worked for me several times. As you're falling asleep, calmly think about where you put your it...for some reason that half-dream state seems to work. I once "lost" my wallet for a week...knew for sure i had it when i left my Mom's......Anyway, did this - and it popped into my head that it was under the front seat in the car. Had to jump up, get dressed, run outside --- and there it was. I had no conscious memory of having put it there after using my gas card to fill up. Hope you find it soon !!!

Pat625 09-27-2012 11:38 AM

It will be in the last place you look!!

Grama Lehr 09-27-2012 11:41 AM

I promise..................I didn't take it!!

Jingle 09-27-2012 12:00 PM

That is madding, I sure hope you find it.

BellaBoo 09-27-2012 12:14 PM

Meditation really works for me to remember. I know exactly where I put my grandmother's quilt but it's not there. I hope I'll find it behind something one day.

DogHouseMom 09-27-2012 01:16 PM

I try to remember what else I had that needed to be put away - and it's probably there. I once put a package of tampons in the freezer. That woke me up.

ptquilts 09-27-2012 02:01 PM

sounds like you have "borrowers".... I have a few here too!

LadyElisabeth 09-27-2012 04:27 PM

Of course it will be the last place you look. I agree, though, check the cupboard, refrigerator, dishwasher. In the bag of fabric. Just ideas from someone who has "Senior moments".

Neesie 09-27-2012 04:44 PM

My guess is that you inadvertently set something on top of it. Fabric? Mail?

Tartan 09-27-2012 05:26 PM

I had a strange thought...I wonder if the dog carried it away. I hope not because that would be dangerous!

AUQuilter 09-27-2012 05:29 PM

Is it possible that your bag tipped over and it is lodged under a car seat?

carla m 09-27-2012 05:38 PM

i had an apple pin cushion my friend gave me i misplaced it and was mortified i cleaned in my sewing room one day my hubby laughed because i was searching for something so small but i managed to find it under my cutting table underneath some pretty fat quarters that fell also. you will find it.

Silver Needle 09-27-2012 05:42 PM

While your looking would you see if you find my mind where your pin cushion is. I seem to have lost it somewhere between combining corn and quilting.

GemState 09-27-2012 06:14 PM

I'm pretty sure it must be with my bobbin case that I took out of my machine this morning.....turned around and now I can't find it anywhere!!

Glenda m 09-27-2012 06:25 PM

You will find it, then tell the rest of us, so we can look in that place next time we mis-place something. LOL

Since I'm not a farmer, I spent a minute trying to figure out why Silver Needle would mix corn into her quilting. "combining"

Happy Tails 09-28-2012 02:45 AM

I wish it was hiding at my house lol

PKGranny 09-28-2012 02:50 AM

After so much searching for my shampoo, I bought another and then found mine in the refrigerator!! Strange things happen and our minds just take a short vacation!

Carol Wilson 09-28-2012 03:01 AM

I have a new puppy too, my husbands underpants constantly dissapear overnight only to be found near the compost bin or partially buried in the lawn, this morning my bra went missing and was found half hidden under the rug in the dining room so may I sugest you try looking where you least expect to find it, or heaven forbid the puppy may have swallowed it so you will have to check his/her whoopsies.

newBe 09-28-2012 03:08 AM

Did you check your purse?

Amythyst02 09-28-2012 03:15 AM

stop looking for it, look for something else. Then you will find it.

Just like what I do, it's where I left it or put it away so I would know where it is when I need it again. lol. I'll bet if it is in your house it is in the safe place you put it. lol. Have you tried looking in any of the bags you took to class, or you plastic boxes if you take any. I am always losing stuff l Need by putting it in one of these type containers when I take stuff to quilting. I search and seldom rescue until I'm not looking for it anymore, then Bingo! there is that lost item. I am currently looking for the pattern to my monster quilt I just finished for the Fall Fair next week, don't know why I didn't put it back with the rest of my patterns. I am sure I will find it when least expected after I quit looking.

susie-susie-susie 09-28-2012 04:48 AM

BellaBoo, I hope you find your quilt. I can only imagine how upset I would be loosing something with so many memories attached. I often do the same thing. I remember putting something in a "safe place" and it's not there the next time I look for it. When I find it, my memory comes back and I remember moving it. Hope that is what has happened to you!

Just when you stop looking it will show up! Good luck.

When all else fails here's a little rhyme we used to say when we were kids, "St. Anthony, St. Anthony come around, something is lost and can't be found." That's pronounced St. Ant knee by us Brooklyn gals.

maviskw 09-28-2012 05:18 AM

I wish someone would tell me where the "Last Place" is.

maviskw 09-28-2012 05:20 AM

Another way I heard the rhyme was: Tony, Tony, look around. Something's lost that must be found. But he hasn't helped me find my glasses yet!

ScrappyAZ 09-28-2012 05:24 AM

Your pincushion must be hiding with the dark green fabric I lost last year. How can 3 yards of fabric suddenly go missing? Yep, your pincushion and my fabric are obviously up to no good.

LindaJR 09-28-2012 05:34 AM

Say "Tony, Tony hear my sound. Somtheing's lost and must be found." Picture it in your mind and where you were when you last remember seeing it. You are asking St Anthony to find it for you. It works so well for me, sometimes I just get as far as Tony, Tony. And you do not have to be Catholic to ask him, I'm not. I do feel a little guilty calling him by his nickname LOL. My children and grandchildren even ask him now, even though they thought I was nuts when I taught them the saying.

susansomethings 09-28-2012 05:36 AM

Sounds like all those odd socks that I can not for the life of me find mates to...I always blame it on the sock monster that lerks somewhere in the house never to be seen. Could it be he is tired of my house & the socks and has moved to your house to start feasting on pin cushions...???

LindaJR 09-28-2012 05:41 AM

I finally had time to read all the posts since I posted my suggestion about Tony. I wanted to see if anyone else had come up with my suggestion. Now I am afraid he will be so tied up wth this group finding stuff he will not have time for me LOL. Good luck finding all your lost things. Take care.
