I bought my large one from Joann's with a 40% off coupon. Love it! Covers my dining table.

I purchased the largest cutting mat that Martelli carries when they had a half-price sale. It repairs itself. I really like it! I also have one of those hard ones (acrylic?) that are used in fabric stores. I got it at an estate sale for $20.

I am glad you posted this I have been looking for a new cutting mat. I have one of the white ones from JoAnns and have had it for 3 years and it is worn out. I turned it last year so I would be doing most of my cutting in a different spot. That spot is worn out too. It cost quite a bit and I think it should have lasted longer than it did. I would really like a 36x48 or 48x48 mat to cover my cutting table. How do I find out when Martelli has their sale?? I want a good one that will last. I have an old olfa one that is still good but I need a bigger one.

Don't forget to look at Wal Mart. I recently bought a 24 x 36 inch mat at Wal Mart for about 1/2 what I had seen it for anywhere else. Later in the week JoAnn's had a closeout on the same mat--a Fiskars--for $2 more because JoAnns was closing them out. I really like the mat because it is truly reversible. froggyintexas

I completely agree with the Martelli. I don't have one but a friend who had a quilt shop di have one and it was the best.

I saw the Martelli mats at the Long Beach quilt show last year and was really impressed by how sturdy they seemed. I ended up finding the mid size at HSN and this is simply the best mat period! Wish I would have purchased the larger one but I am happy to have this one. You don't have to store it flat like the Olfa's and you can even iron on it. If you can afford it I highly recommend it. I have had mine for almost a year and don't know how I got on without it.

I bought a smaller Martelli at a quilt show now I just ordered the large one,on the half price sale, for my new quilt room It was delivered today and can't wait to start using it. Love them.

Before that I got along for a great many years with an Olfa about half that size, but it finally wore out. The 24X36 is about the largest size that makes sense to me. It fits my folding table nicely, and my arms couldn't reach any farther. I like the gray color.

I also have June Tailor Cut and Press 1 that flips to an ironing surface and I like that a lot for trimming because it rotates easily and can sit on a small table next to me when I'm sewing. Don't remember where I bought it - probably Jo-ann's.

I bought my Big Mat as a show special...it has a 5-year warranty and I have not had to replace my rotary cutting blade the last few months. www.sewingemporium.com. Avoid those white mats from Joann's; the surface is so rough the blades get dull fast. Ask me how I know.
