Sumcoop, WoW! Your hard work sure has paid off. Congratulations. Thank you for sharing and posting photos. I am a visual learner and I learn alot of orgainization by looking at others' sewing rooms/spaces.

I also have been making a sewing room and organizing. It is a job and one job leads to another. I have all my fabric put away most of it in the basement. I will post a picture also once I'm done. I thought it would take a couple of days but I'm on 2 weeks just because I decided to clean basement to have room for containers of fabric.

LOL! My DH has offered to do that. I feel too guilty but I may have to rethink that!

sumcoop 10-06-2010 07:45 PM

Thanks friends. Finally got to sew a little today.
I really embroidered. Found I needed to move a few machine parts next to the embroidery machine...but its working so far.
And even cleared out a little of the other room...will post a picture when i get it cleaned.

Your sewing room is beautiful!!!
And looks so BIG. I love all the
wonderful armoires you have for
storage and how neatly your fabrics
are folded.
Don't you just love the ability to see
all your fabrics at once? Sure makes
choosing colors for a project a lot easier!
Congratulations on a terrific job! I know
you will enjoy it.

Donna,
I do love seeing my fabric...when I covered it with a drape I felt very irritable...so I opened it up once again...plan on painting some bifold doors black and attaching and some shutters to shut during the day...but couldn't stand the curtains over my fabric. I found it amazing...but truly effected my disposition while in the room.
thanks for the comments...most of the furniture were yard sale finds....except the pie safe and cupboard with the quilts on it and the wall hanging shelf.

I love your room you have done a wonderful job with it, and I don't blame you one bit I wouldn't want all my fabric covered up either if I had the fabric like you have, it's a beauty to see all in it's self. :D :D

jridner1 10-06-2010 10:55 PM

What a room, i bet it feels wonderful to have it organized. love the painted dresser. :)

Beautiful creative space. I think there is something in the air...I have been moved to organise my space...quite a cleansing and uplifting experience. Bit scary too....didn't realise I had quite so much "stuff".

christina bennett 10-07-2010 12:52 AM

Mine is always a work in progress. After our spring flood I just wanted every thing washed and put back. Now I have been slowly VERY SLOWLY been going back and labeling what is in each bin and sorting and labeling my stips and scraps by size. Doing a little each time I am in the sewing room has been the best way to tackel this for me. This way I am not overwhelmed and missing the fun of sewing.
I love my space, even messy I love it,neat is easier but I have not decided which makes me more creative. Messy makes me wantto do more sewing to make it neat .

Happy organizing, keep it fun, stress need not apply ,
Christina (Chrissy)

Doesn't it give you a good feeling to see the progress?
The weather is beautiful in Missouri today, so I have been
working in the garage with all the re-cyclibles (paper, cardboard
cans, plastics & etc.) Shop vacs are wonderful for cleaning the floor. I feel better after seeing the cleaner garage!

I cleaned out last month. Took a bit of time but well worth the effort. I didn't put anything back in the shelves that I was not completely sure I would eventually use. Gave some away, sold some here and on eBay. Bought some more!!!! Keep going, you can do it!

Congrats on having your room nearly finished. I have been refolding fabric and sorting out the why do I have this so I know what a challenge this can be. Looking forward to your pictures.

Annz 10-09-2010 06:51 PM

congratulations. I bet you feel really great right now.

jdavis 10-10-2010 06:50 AM

What a room! I love the wrought iron fence painted on the hutch!

quilter41 10-10-2010 07:07 AM

Your room looks great. Now each time you are finished for the day take 5 minutes to straighten it up. You will be surprised how much pleasure it will be to come back.

CarrieAnne 10-10-2010 07:22 AM

Good for you! I need to work on mine!

ania755 10-10-2010 07:23 AM

What a great room.....
I can't say the same about mine...I actually realize that I don't like much my sewing room being so neat...it only happens when i don't use it much....LOL
Enjoy turning it into a mess again....
Happy quilting

Then decided to reorganize my sewing room since I purchased a new machine...and wanted to set up my 4000 for embroidery station.

I have been working on this for 2 weeks....I will be glad when it is done and plan to post pictures...but don't plan to do this ever again. I have about as much in my sewing room as I can get...

It is going to take me another 2 weeks to clean out the other room I piled stuff into that I need to sort even more.

You are an inspiration...but if anyone is inspired think long and hard before starting. Hope I can find everything when the organization is finished. LOL!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait til its done got to get baby projects done this week for shower on Sun. Just wanted to say thank you I think...no I am sure...I am slow, OCD, and ADD...so can't wait to start more projects...LOL!!!!

thanks for listening...maybe tomorrow I will completely finish and post the pics....before I get unorganized.

I am glad to see some one else in the same situation as me. I have to do 2 quilts as well as getting the things sorted and back in the sewing room so it looks neat and tidy.

aliaslaceygreen 10-14-2010 08:41 AM

Yep, good job!!! I am at mine--AGAIN and this time for REAL...lol
The house is being recarpeted in 3 weeks...and there is a CR@# load of stuff EVERYWHERE... I am boxing, looking at, purging, tearing, sorting, tossing, stashing, flinging...you name it, I am doing it...and not just in the studio either!!!! YIKES

fayzer 10-15-2010 11:04 AM

You are just too organized for me. My sewing room and soldier supply room( I am a soldiers angel to 3) are one and the same. It is a task just keeping the pins out of the jerky! I wish I had another room to keep them separate. Oh, BTW, this room is also my guest room.

craftiladi 10-29-2010 08:29 AM

Hey Susan you did a great job, looks awesome and thanks you sparked a idea...I have a spare rm that is pretty much set up for another GD that comes to visit but since she isn't here much I am going to steal a wall for my design wall...my gracie frame is already stored in there so why not...lol
I see you share my love for black. When I was explaining to my mom in law about all that I painted black she threaten to come take my blk paint away from me...lol
enjoy your new organized room...you did a wonderful job.
dee

I have actually now cleaned the other room....so and finished a spider web block to use as a little table mat...will post pics soon.
Thanks for all the compliments!!!!!!!!!!...I actually added 2 more machines in my sewing room and another table.I think that is ALL I can possibly cram in there. I have a path...but who needs more than that.
