Just a note...you all inspired me to refold and organize my fabric. I sure did not know I had so much...but most is done.
Then decided to reorganize my sewing room since I purchased a new machine...and wanted to set up my 4000 for embroidery station.

I have been working on this for 2 weeks....I will be glad when it is done and plan to post pictures...but don't plan to do this ever again. I have about as much in my sewing room as I can get...

It is going to take me another 2 weeks to clean out the other room I piled stuff into that I need to sort even more.

You are an inspiration...but if anyone is inspired think long and hard before starting. Hope I can find everything when the organization is finished. LOL!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait til its done got to get baby projects done this week for shower on Sun. Just wanted to say thank you I think...no I am sure...I am slow, OCD, and ADD...so can't wait to start more projects...LOL!!!!

thanks for listening...maybe tomorrow I will completely finish and post the pics....before I get unorganized.

scowlkat 10-04-2010 10:00 PM

Congrats! Need to head down that path myself but am so intimidated by the amount of work! Probably wouldn't be able to sew for a month!

What part of Tennessee do you hail from? I live close to Chattanooga.

gale 10-04-2010 10:42 PM

yay! I can't wait to see pics. I'll send you my address so you can come clean mine next.

I just cleaned up my ongoing mess of sewing. What I found did it for me this time was shopping at 5 quilt stores in one day. The fabrics are folded up so nicely and stacked around. This was my inspiration, so in this case quilt shopping was a good thing for me, that time anyways.

sumcoop 10-05-2010 05:29 AM

Hoping to finish today...so after coffee up to make it complete. Who knows when I will get to the room I piled all the extra stuff in.
thank for the encouragement.
Susan

sueisallaboutquilts 10-05-2010 05:57 AM

Oh Susan, I just started yesterday and got so discouraged!! I have waaaay too much stuff. But I'm determined to make a success story out of it :)
Good for you!!!! :D

Mariposa 10-05-2010 06:36 AM

kwhite 10-05-2010 06:37 AM

i have been cleaning mine for the last few weeks too. Boy what a job. Good going!!!

adrianlee 10-05-2010 07:37 AM

Good for you! I'm looking forward to seeing your sewing room. I've been picking away at getting my sewing room picked up and not so messy. I start to work on it and then get sidetracked doing something else like sewing. Don't know what's wrong with me. LOL.

Lookin good.

shhhhhhhhhhh!!!! don't tell my husband.

DeniseP 10-05-2010 08:45 AM

BEWARE! CLEANING YOUR SEWING ROOM CAN LEAD TO NOT FINDING ANYTHING YOU NEED!!!!
Now and then I have to clean out my sewing room because I can no longer walk in without tripping on something or knocking something over. Every time I clean it, it takes me forever to remember where I put things and some stuff I have yet to find from my cleaning last January. Maybe I'll skip it this year.... I can't sew when it's clean! I need the chaos.

Qbee 10-05-2010 09:52 AM

Wow! Now that's a quilting room! I LOVE the shelf with the tree painted on it...so pretty! And the whole room looks great!

Matilda 10-05-2010 10:11 AM

It feels good to get it all cleaned up doesn't it! I feel like I can work better in my sewing room when it is in good shape.

Matilda 10-05-2010 10:14 AM

You have a very nice room ( I just saw the pictures after my post). I love the way you painted your yard sale find. Very pretty.

featherweight 10-05-2010 01:22 PM

Oh my, Isn't it a great feeling to have it all nice and spiffy?? Looks wonderful....

buslady 10-05-2010 02:12 PM

It is a huge job, but Soooooo worth it, I had the same experience a couple of months ago, it feels so good to be able to find something when I need it!! Great for you!

finch 10-06-2010 03:59 AM

You will be so happy when you get all done and organized. It is well worth the effort.I did mine a while back and I am as happy as a lark in it now.

nana myra 10-06-2010 05:59 AM

I totally understand. My room is a combination guest sewing craft room and we just put a differnet bed in there which meant that we had to move things to do that and then we got a different desk for my computer so that meant reorganizing my den and both rooms are still a mess.

SNUGQUILT 10-06-2010 06:55 AM

BEAUTIFUL!!! Congrats on a great job! I'm sure it's a good feeling to have it all so organized now! I too have an 'extra' room I've been putting 'piles' in....:)

dglvr 10-06-2010 07:01 AM

I just started another project so my sewing room looks like my fabric bins just had a big party. What a mess. Glad some people have a clean room. It sure isn't me right now.
Your pictures are great. Quite the room. Specially the "other"
room. Thats what my room looks like.

dgmoby 10-06-2010 07:15 AM

Fabulous job! Your room is truly using every square inch of space (just like me <smile>). It's now organized, so you can be much more productive. You did an excellent job! Your fabric looks like wonderful, too.

And your yard sale find you painted is truly a nice work of art! I wish I had painting talent :)

I started doing the same thing. I had beds covered with fabrics; hall ways blocked, fabric every where! Then I had to buy more storage containers.

I am now being called a "HOARDER."

I was shocked just how much stash I have. What a surprise! Some of the fabric "I question how it got here!" Who would have ever created that pattern/color, etc.?

Amazing!

And I may never get it all back in the room. (that is the scary part)

patdesign 10-06-2010 08:24 AM

Saw your pics, I have just finished re-organizing mine too, Once I moved everything all out to move stuff around it took a week to figure out where to stash all the other stuff, but I hung in there and got it all someplace, now I just need to remember WHERE as I keep thinking of the old places which aren't there anymore. Now I am trying to figure out a drop down cutting table, but since it would have to be custom, it will have to wait until there are extra $$$ lying around. Could be a while. BTW yours looks like its really set up to work for you. Great!

Doreen 10-06-2010 09:54 AM

Great job!

Sewslow 10-06-2010 12:53 PM

Oooh, I envy you. You have even more stuff than I do but just because your room is bigger and I can't fit anything else in. I had mine beautifully organized, sewed happily for a few days then learned that for our new windows to be installed, I had to take down all the shelves from around the windows. In the meantime my new sewing/embroidery machine came and is set up on a shaky little table in the family room. Making progress, though.

VernaL 10-06-2010 02:32 PM

I've been cleaning my sewing room for seems like forever. But, it has been about 3 weeks. I bought a new cabinet for my machine and I need to rearrange the room. I think that I am going to have to say to myself, "If I can't decide what to do with it, then I need to get rid of it." I have way too much "stuff." I admire all of you who are getting it done or who are finished.

good job waiting for pics.

I cleaned my sewing room about two months ago, but looking at it right now you would never guess that I did it. Just bought a new machine and a new serger, so I now have 3 boxes in my room. One of the boxes is huge makes a good storage shelf!! and once again have project all over the place.

Wow! Great room and yes indeed, you've got a lot of stuff! Now the trick will be to keep it clean & organized. I have to keep up with mine as it's in my bedroom, so I can't have it get too out of hand. Good job with yours!
Kind Regards,
MaryAnna
