white batik-does it exist?

I have been on an endless hunt for a white on white batik, and am finding it is almost impossible to find as are off white batiks. I am in need of 7 1/2 yards for background, If I find one it is like 5 yards left. this is very frustrating, even at the quilt craft festival today only 2 booths had bolts and neither had what I needed, very disappointing, may have to wait till road2ca net year to find it. anyone have any good sources as I am at a loss. I have tried batiks plus, batiks etc, canton village, abbymay, fat quarter shop, fabric.com, thousands of bolts, you name it I have searched.

I just did a serach on Hancock of Paducah and Fabric shack and didn't find anything white on white in a batik. Have you checked into doing a search for Hoffmans Watercolors batiks??

You know the 16th Annual Quilt run is coming up. There is a list of 24 stores in So CA you could do a search on and find their e-mail and request if they have any. It will take time or you could call them, the Phone numbers are listed.

Try batiks galore online or sew batiks. Not sure what they carry but they are extensive batiks only.

Look near the bottom of this page - http://www.fabricdepot.com/index.php...chstring=batik - are any of those what you need?

Have you tried M&L's in Anaheim? You can call them, they will check for you, and let you know what they have. They might be able to call you when they get in the color you want, also.

I've seen some, just don't remember where. It would have been online. There is a batik only site. It could have been there or on connecting threads. But white on white isn't very common. And neither is any light colored batik.

Since I have seen black on black batiks I am certain there are white on white batiks.

Tonga Meringues are very light, but I wouldn't say white on white. The are what I used in the log cabin in my avatar. If you want a true white on white, you could use a printed muslin, like Moda Muslin Mates or similar.

What I've found is that you can either find cream colored batiks with a yellow hue or light batiks with a grey hue, there are even some with a peach hue. I have enjoyed using the Tonga Lace line which is creams. If you think about it, it can't be a true white batik. There wouldn't be any contrast to show up the design so you can decide which undertone would work best in your quilt. Hancocks of Paducah carried the line.
