I like both Whittles and Connecting threads but I haven't ordered from either yet. They both seem to be in the same price range. Anyone on here order from both and if so, does one seem to carry better fabric than the other?

I just placed my first order with connecting threads. (charm pack are on sale for 1.70 to 2.90) so we'll see. I've never heard of whittles before! I'm off to check it out.
I've never heard of whittled, will have to check it out. But, I order from connecting threads all the time, great fabrics and service.
connecting threads sells only their own brand of fabric. it's quite nice for the price. it compares very well to fabs that routinely sell for several more dollars per yard.
whittles sells many brands of fabric, so whether or not you are pleased with your purchase will depend on whether or not you are pleased with the brand(s) you bought. they both provide excellent customer service. |
I have ordered from CT many times, always happy. Many 1/2 price kits of which I have made only one and it had plenty of fabric. I am saving the others for when I retire (HAHA). I have never heard of Whittles either but will def check them out.
I have ordered from Connecting Threads several times. Love their fabric and they have great sales on all kinds of things. Right now all books are on sale for 40% off.
I have not heard of Whittles before. |
I've shopped from both and love them!
Whittles carries high quality quilt shop fabric such as Moda, RJR, etc.. They have wonderful prices and a huge inventory. Connecting Threads carries their own line of fabric. While not LQS quality it is far and above anything you'll find at Walmart, Joann's or Hancocks. I also love their thread and it is price really low. So, that's my two cents worth! |
I order the fat quarter samplers of the new lines as soon as they are out from Connecting Threads. I can see which ones I really like the best to buy yardage. CT fabric has stood the test of time for me in wear and tear.
The samplers make great secret pal gifts, already in a shipping box, and in perfect order. :-) |
We haven't ordered from Whittles, but we love CT fabric - very silky finish and nice weight. We just placed a huge order and are expecting it Monday. New WIPs in a box!

Anyone have the link? I just tried whittles.com and that didn't work.

Anytime you can't find something, just Google the name
Whittles and you come up with Whittles Fabrics. |
I love both companies - they both ship quickly and have reasonable shipping charges. You only have to order $50 to get free shipping from CT.
I especially like Whittles bundles - inexpensive way to get a lot of variety into your stash. If you're making scrappier looking quilts, see if they have a bundle of the kind of fabrics you want. |
I order from Connecting Threads but I am lucky enough to live near Whittles and go often! Love the gals there - they are really nice. Their prices keep me spoiled though :-)
Thanks Sallie. I have yet another place to shop! LOL
I just got an order from Connecting threads recently and the fabric was nice and well priced. Next order will be to the other one to check out their fabric. Checked out their website and I liked some of the fabric they had for sale.
don't know Whittles but have used CT for years . good service, fabrics, etc. never had any problems with them.
Connecting Threads has a large group of the blenders and solids for $2.96 now. I really like the shading in the Mirage line. I've never ordered the solids. The catalog has more selection than online, so I need to place another order. I also like the fact that they cut free - charms, jelly rolls and layer cakes, etc are priced just like the fabric - at $4.96 to $6.96 a yard. The names are different - those are Moda names - sort of like Kleenex meaning facial tissue.
i prefer Whittles they sell popular lines from Marcus, Hoffman, Benartex, etc - so if you are happy with that quality you will be happy with Whittles.
Connecting Threads sells their own line of fabric. i feel with Connecting Threads you get what you pay for, cheap prices = cheap fabrics. i feel with Whittles you get more then what you pay for, cheap prices = LQS quality fabrics. |
I just checked out the Whittles site. How do know who makes the fabric? Blenders for $3.50 a yard sounds good, but whose is it? Some of the $6.95 had names on it, but then there's the shipping. Connecting Threads mixes very well with LQS fabric for me.

My goodness! Thank you everyone for such great responses. i like both places and i think i will be ordering from each place in june sometime. my husband has been laid off for over a year and is now back to work-- so i will be very carefull in what i order but..... i will definately order...from each. they both sound reputable and great!
i have ordered from connecting threads a few times. the colors are not as vibrant as those i prefer. having said that, the pricing is good, the customer service is superb. they respond quickly to all problems, the last kit i purchased lacked 5 " of background fabric and they are posting it to me at no charge, even when i offered to pay for it if they could send it without the 50 dollar minimum order.
Love both of them.
Thank you SO much for alerting me to Whittles....looks like a great site!
I have not ordered fabric from CT but I have been to and bought fabric from Whittles. It is quilt shop quality.
I shop Connecting Threads and Keepsake Quilting all the time and love them. I never heard of Whittles, but will check them out. Thanks.
Have ordered from both and been very happy!
Have ordered from both and love them both! Great customer service from Whittles, they always add a extra fat quarter in my order which is sooooo nice!!!
added to my favorites
Love Whittles Fabric, they did not have my selection one time and worked with me to get something of similar colors and I actually like the one they chose than what I had originally ordered. My order always come wrapped and really fast. I've ordered from them lately and love the fabric texture.
I'm going to try both of them. Thanks everyone.

I really like them equally and have order numerous times.
Ordered from both Whittles and Connecting Threads. Both are very service oriented. Quick shipments and one even included an extra yard of fabric because the one fabric I ordered was an inch short. I always over order anyway so that was a plus. Both have excellent quality fabric. I highly recommend both places.
I've never heard of whittled, will have to check it out. But, I order from connecting threads all the time, great fabrics and service. Never been disappointed with fabric from Connecting Threads and have been ordering for years from them. Spend $50.00 and shipping is free.
Have a Blessed day Ellen |
I love Connecting Threads. Don't know the other one.
Love both sites. I have been ordering on line for years. Everything has been fine.
This year I needed just one more fabric for my "FLORAL VIGNETTES" quilt and I put in a search and got it from a shop in Nevada. ( I have traveled through Nevada and did not see a house let alone a quilt shop.) It was a wonderful shop and so kind to ship the fabric quickly. |
I have purchased from both Connecting threads and whittles.
I like both places and have had great customer service. If I cannot find what I'm looking for in one I will go to the other. |
