MyWifeMadeME 05-17-2011 04:36 PM

We are the proud owners of a Nolting longarm with a SideSaddle computer. Just curious how many longarmers are out here already and how many plan to buy.... Anyone that WOULD NOT longarm and prefer to hand stitch?

bamamama 05-17-2011 04:41 PM

I bought a Tin Lizzie 18LS in Feb. No computer, I wanted to learn to the manual way first.

Jim 05-17-2011 04:43 PM

My wife and I have a mid arm...we do a thriving business...I make tops...she does the quilting machine...and I do the binding when it needs to be completed, rarely is there a time that we don't have someone's quilt to be done. We have our eye on a Gammil , when our pockets are full enough.

Annaquilts 05-17-2011 04:46 PM

In my dreams I see an Inova, no computer but with stitch regulator, but reality says maybe an older used model with no stitch regulator and no computer.

I love hand quilting too and always have a smaller project laying around. I just have too many projects to realisticaly do then by hand.

Big Red 05-17-2011 04:50 PM

I have a Tin Lizzy, had it for a couple years now. Love it, bought it cause I was going to open a quilt store. Figured it would be a good one for people to rent. However life took a turn and store didn't get opened. I have a awesome machine though :)

zipit 05-17-2011 05:09 PM

I bought a Gammill last November.

quiltyfeelings 05-17-2011 05:11 PM

I have the HQ Avante. LOVE it. Yes, I longarm for others.

medots 05-17-2011 05:16 PM

I just became the proud owner of an Avante also. Any idea who gives lessons. I am a beginner and in need of help learning how to use it for more than stippling and continuous pantos.

cjtinkle 05-17-2011 05:22 PM

I have an APQS Millennium, absolutely love it!

MyWifeMadeME 05-17-2011 05:31 PM

Wow, manufacturers are spread across the board. I find all this quite interesting...

WinSumLsSm 05-17-2011 05:38 PM

Ruby the Quilter 05-17-2011 05:56 PM

I have a Tin Lizzie 18 and love it - still not brave enough to quilt someone else quilt.

LindaM 05-17-2011 06:06 PM

Upgrading from Pfaff Grand Quilter with 9" harp (mid-arm) to a Pfaff 18.8. Should arrive this week!

The Stitch Witch 05-17-2011 06:32 PM

APQS Millenium and dreaming of getting a Quiltazoid

pvquilter 05-17-2011 07:08 PM

I have a Gammill Classic and have been machine quilting for 18 years. I am always busy, either repairing, making a custom quilt and mostly machine quilting. I always have customer quilts in my studio. There has not been a time I have not had one in the studio to work on other than all my own that I don't get finished. Some day!! I enjoy my work.

funquilter 05-17-2011 07:18 PM

I have an old nustyle use it for my own fun and share with friends.

charismah 05-17-2011 08:52 PM

I have a 26 inch INNOVA. I quilt for others as well. I am always busy....learning new things, quilting and improving. I love my job as a long arm quilter.

Rose L 05-17-2011 09:26 PM

I have a Bailey's 17. I'm fairly new to it but moving along quickly on the learning curve and plan to quilt for others someday soon.

allie1448 05-18-2011 02:09 AM

I have an Avante and love it!

katier825 05-18-2011 02:28 AM

I dream about having one...does that count?

I am in awe of the talent out there! I wish I knew someone locally who owned one that could adopt me and teach me all they know! Unless I hit the lottery, I don't expect to ever own one. :( I'll just have to sit back and admire the work of others.

Mumzbear 05-18-2011 02:56 AM

My hubby is a long-armer and loves it! I just sew the tops!

Candy Apple Quilts 05-18-2011 03:00 AM

I have a Gammill with a Statler Stitcher computer, and I'd trade my HUSBAND before I'd trade my machine!

grann of 6 05-18-2011 03:17 AM

I just got a Husqvarna Viking Mega Quilter 18/8 and so far am having lots of fun. No computer for it in the near or distant future. I wanted it to FMQ & meander.

DeeBooper 05-18-2011 03:42 AM

I have a Gammill that I purchased last Christmas. Hand stitch? NEVER, if possible. I am no good at hand stitching except bindings which I love to do.

heellie 05-18-2011 03:53 AM

After trying to quilt a queen size quilt on a domestic sewing machine ,I bought a periwinkle wrought iron frame and used a brother sewing machine but that did not meet my needs ,so sold that and bought an A1 12 foot long arm .I can quilt any size quilt it has a hydraulic motor that raises the table up or down and have hydraulic saddle back chair if I want to sit and sew.

I have an HQ16 for the past 6 yrs now and I am still learning on it, but I wouldn't get any quilts done if I didn't have it.

Tinabodina 05-18-2011 03:59 AM

I am now the proud owner of the HQ Avante 18. I just got it set up and leveled, after of course the room was repainted etc. I had the opportunity to take some lessons on one and then decided if I should buy it - well that's history! New longarmer and loving it.

LeonMom 05-18-2011 04:00 AM

I purchased an Innova, no computer but with a stitch regulator and their 12' frame at the AQS show in Lancaster. It was delivered April 1, but this is no April-fool's joke. I LOVE IT! So far I've done a very, very large practice muslin piece, and am on my second quilt. I'm heading out to St. George for their 3-day LAQ class at the end of June.

kacy 49 05-18-2011 04:07 AM

I have Miss Kate. She is a Babylock Crown Jewel and the twin to the HQ Avante. I have had her for about 2 weeks and we are still bonding and I already love her dearly. So much easier to use than my Juki 98Q.

tntgranny 05-18-2011 04:09 AM

I am really thinking of getting one, but there are so many options - brand, size, computerized etc - that I don't know where to start looking. Help!!!

jansquiltn 05-18-2011 04:24 AM

IM with tntgranny. Help! Sooooooooo many choices. Computer or not how deep is deep enough on the throat?

Granny B 05-18-2011 04:25 AM

Have the Statler and love it!

Vickymomof6 05-18-2011 04:37 AM

I'm really thinking about it.... The main problem is room for one. I live in a small house with four other people so space is a premium here.

twinkie 05-18-2011 04:38 AM

At the top of the classified section in your list of categories, there is a LAQ Directory. Anyone who qualifies under the rules for posting in the classifed section can be listed in this directory. It is listed by state and is updated every two weeks. This allows our member to contact LAQ's in their area or ones that they might want to mail their quilts to.
