I had never heard a name for it - and did not know they existed, but thought how unique if someone created something like this cause so many times I've come up to a point like this needing exactly something like this - love the idea!

LOL, my 'center ruler' consists of measuring with my cloth tape measure and folding it in half then marking the spot. This is a neat tool, thanks for the website.

Also have a 36" center Omnigrid ruler. I received it yrs ago at Puyallup, WA Sewing Expo as a 'hand out' for taking a class.

I have used both. The centering saves me calculating and figuring.

Thank you Valsma for sharing the information. I have never heard of the center tape measurer or ruler before. After watching the video from goldenthreads I think I should have one! Thanks Grammy Dwynn for sharing the information/website with us.

WoW. Great idea. I used a ruler like that when I was doing newspaper layouts. That was back in the day, after lino-type, but before computer layouts. We did wax paste up. I found it most helpful when I was wrapping text around a photo. I have a feeling that I'll be plundering through all my drafting supplies again in the near future to dig that out. I can see the value in using that tool for fussy cuts too.

What a great idea. I used to be good at math but as I get older and lazy, this would be a good tool.

I was just looking up several websites for that centering tape measure - everyone from quilts shops to Amazon has them for sale.

The centering ruler looks good for drafting patterns or squaring up quilts.

I have such a problem squaring up a quilt when I use my quilting rulers, I just can't seem to get it squared up easily, takes for ever. I can see either the tape or the ruler especially the long one helping a lot in reaching that goal quickly.
