Whole Cloth - the real thing!
1 Attachment(s)
Ladies and Gentlemen ....
As some of you know I have been practicing my FMQ, and doing mini whole cloth quilts. I am now going to do the REAL DEAL!!!! I'm so pumped! I bought muslin fabric in a "cream". It's 75x75 (no mini LOL, but not massive) I saw it on pintereste: https://timquilts.files.wordpress.co...7/dscn3242.jpg and fell in love with it. I have the same stencil for the middle, but not the border stencil ... but I have lots of those! Here's my layout: I hope you can see the blue! I plan on doing stipple in the middle and then from the bigger "circle" to the border doing 1/2 inch grid (not sure if I will do cross hatch or just square). And then stipple in the border around the stencil. If you have other "filling" ideas instead of a grid, please feel free! Thanks so looking, I'll be posting my progress on this thread And ... A Huge thanks to all the people who have given me so much information, advice and suggestions ... all are welcome and so much appreciated! |
This will be spectacular!
TBH ... I don't think you need idea/suggestions! You are pretty incredible with them, on your own. Another weekend's project? :) |
I agree with QuiltE! The on point crosshatch will be the perfect fill for all those feathers. Labor intensive but worth it. They make painters tape in 1/2" so you won't have to tediously mark them out. And stop them about 1/4 from the feather motifs and stitch over to your new c/h line, they will form a lovely echo around both the border and the center medallion. This is what they did in the pinterest pic you linked and you can see how much it emphasizes the overall design. Looking forward to following your progress on this.

Yours will be beautiful!!!!!!!!! I have no doubt.

I’ve been following your progress. You do beautiful work. I’m sure this will be lovely too. How ironic that tonight I was reading through my new AQS Sept 2018 magazine and towards the back was an interesting and informative article by Margaret Solomon Gunn on The Art of the Symmetrical Whole Cloth Quilt. I don’t know if I’ll ever make one but I learned a lot from it. Nice pictures too.

I am sure your whole cloth will be gorgeous. You are very ambitious.

I always enjoy your posts and am confident you’re going to do a fabulous job (as always) on your whole cloth quilt. I’ll keep my eyes open for photos of your progress. It sounds like you’re enjoying the FMQ journey...
