Well. you better get on with the pickles because the cucumbers will not hold. However, the fabric will still be as beautiful as ever when you are done with the pickles. Meanwhile, while you are making the pickles, you can fantasize about the quilt you will make. Have a great time with both.

None of us stopped you because we would have all been worse. I would have come out with tons more.

Love the LMStores. There is also one in the south end of London, Exeter street I believe. That one would be my favorite, and I've been to the Guelph and Hawksville location.

Pickles go well with floral fabric.

Laughing along with you. I think we all have a time or two when fabric screams at us "Take me home, take me home!"

And Woodstock!

You could buy everything from yarn, cleaning supplies, socks, underwear (even long johns) towels, sheets, makeup, stationary and garden shovels. Their stores are located in London, Hawksville, Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge, Port Dover and now a new one in Toronto (I may have missed one or two). You can look them up online and see what you are missing. Each one has it's own flavour and own style of store. Not all stores carry exactly the same things and fabric may come on the bolt, on the roll or sold by the pound. The Waterloo store is an old building by the train tracks, the Hawksville one looks like a steel farm building, the Guelph one is on the end of a strip mall and the Cambridge one is in the old woolen factory. Can you tell that I've checked almost all of them out more than once?

the first time I was driving to Indiana from NY, I saw the sign for Yoders Dept store in Shipshewana, 15,000 bolts of fabric! It has been a 'must stop' ever since then, even though it is so not on the way to visit family. Even though I was a stranger from NY and our bill came to several hundred dollars they took my personal check and didn't even ask to see my drivers' license. You MUST check out all the sights in Shipshewana, it's phenomenally interesting. Enjoy your trip.

You did great! Thanks for sharing your story! I'm heading to Indiana in October to spend our 20th anniversary with some wonderful family that we never get to see because we live 9 hrs away. It's in Shipshewana....Amish country. There will be some very fun fabric stores. My husband already knows we will be visiting them and I think he knows that I won't leave with only one fabric! Glad you could hold yourself back. :). I completely understand the addiction.

"Jumped off the shelf into your arms?" Mind if I use that one next time? I was blaming the car for turning into the parking lot.

Sounds like a fun day, but, only one piece of fabric followed you out? I would think several more would have tried to tackle you :)

I was kind of thinking that too

I couldn't seem to get out of one without spending $100. I had to quit going to them.

Seems like a day of pickling is just the price you had to pay for 10 yards of the perfect fabric. And just think, come winter, you can snuggle under your new quilt and enjoy great pickles.

Congratulations on your new find! I know what you mean. The last time the NEED to purchase a large amount hit, I bought an entire bolt, 16 yards! It was and is delicious! I've used it for a few backs and bits and pieces in tops. I absolutely LOVE that fabric. DH even convinced me to buy it! I told him 'We have to leave now!' When in the car he was curious as to why. I told him that if I stayed any longer, that I would have to purchase that whole bolt. He said I should have and we must go back. I opted to wait a few days and use that as my purchase during the shop hop! Boy was that fun when my son and I went right up to the counter with bolt in hand. The cashier stated that we had to make the stop at the cutters table first and my then, 9 year old son stated 'No we don't. We're buying the whole thing.' Best look ever on the cashier's face!

I have not been to that market in years and was not quilting when I was there. If I make it there again I now know where to go.

MAKE SURE YOU GO ON A WEDNESDAY. THEY HAVE THE MOST AWESOME FLEA MARKET TYPE AUCTION GOING ON EVERY WEEK. Never been there, but my sister has and she got me an FW at the auction. Gotta be quick no dilly dally or its gone if you want something. BIL's nephew there all the time buying and selling. would like to go to just see it for once.

IMHO if that fabric came right to you, it would have been rude to ignore it. The proper thing to do is what you did, give it a good home. I don't eat pickles (LOVE the smell, don't like the taste, very strange) but I'm sure yours will taste very good. Just don't eat any near that fabric!

SusanSusan33 08-12-2013 11:49 AM

Sounds like a shoppers paradise- both stops you made!! :)

That is perfect, went out for cucumbers found some and on my way home slipped into Lens Mills, wonderful. Lens Mills does have a wide variety, not been to the one in Woodstock, I don't think. :)

Your floral will be ideal for a kaliedescope quilt. Please post as it progresses.
