Why do we have to cut charm squares to 4 1/2 inches ?
I love charm squares and have many. When I read patterns, one of the first things they say is to cut them in half and then trim to 4 1/2 inches or they just say trim to 4 1/2 inches. I know that 'someone' knows why, but I don't. Please give me some answers :).

Well it would be nice if you could count on pre-cuts being accurate but most are not. One of the reasons I seldom buy them.

Many don't like the pinked edge because they don't know how to sew them together that way. I only buy Moda precuts. They are always accurate. I measure other brands accuracy before using. I have the Go and it's easy to cut a lot of charm squares 5" or 4 1/2". I seldom cut block pieces with a rotary cutter. It's pre cuts or die cuts for me. The only problem I have to deal with is perfect 1/4" seams.

Could someone explain basically how the Go cutter works? I can't tell much from the pictures. Thanks!

Totally agree. Too easy to cut your own strips and squares.
