Because I love doing it. It gives me a creative outlet and it is so relaxing to me. I love fabric and shopping for fabric and sewing fabric etc. I enjoy it so I quilt.

Because the joy it brings me and my family members I give them to. I had to quite nursing 4 yrs ago do to health reasons. I had worked since I was 15, we had our 1st grand-baby and I think it started out as something to keep me from going insane. Now it's just fun, it's like putting a puzzle together.

It's a way to be creative. I definitely love shopping for fabric and seeing it come together. Most importantly, I think it's what a quilt means to me. It represents safety, security, comfort, warmth and the love that went into making it.

To keep my sanity. Love going into my room, shutting the door and being alone with my thoughts! It's only DH and I here at the house but my room is a sanctuary!

In this day and age most of us don’t HAVE to make a quilt for the necessity of it…we have central heat / air, gas logs, and usually more bed linens they we know what to do with. This being said, I’d put a quilt on every bed in my home, (I just need to make enough to do that). I LOVE quilts! I enjoy the process of selecting my fabrics, color schemes, design / pattern layout, and most important, (to me), who the quilt is for. So, WHY do you quilt? Is it for the love of the craft? The ability to create what will hopefully be a piece of your family history? The joy it brings you? Artistic expression? So, Why Do You Quilt? ;-) Also ~ it brings me joy to express my artistic side and quilts can bring joy to those whom I give them to. |

I am not an artist, actually I am not even that good with colors, but I always like to create/work with my hands. In 80thies sew my cloths, then somehow got my hands on a quilting book and from then on, on and off I have made quilts for my family and still hope to make some more, maybe get a new sewing machine and still have money left for fabric.... |

I don't know if there is a why do my quilting, just as well ask why do you eat? to live of course, to live.
I quilt, because it feels good in my soul, it creates happiness within my being, it fills my mind with creative thoughts, it calms my spirit. I feel the same way about my painting and knitting or anything that I do that is creative especially when I do a mindless quilt. But I am not selfish with my desires for crafting. I know there is another human being who wants my attention too. Therefore I cook and help with some housework and then the day is mine.I don't let my crafts consume me, I take time for other things in my life. I sometimes do no crafts at for an entire day. I just spend it with hubby. |
