Just as I'm sitting there diligently quilting a UFO, I take a break and I find a link to a pattern that I have wanted forever! Now I want to stop what I am doing and start something new! It is a paper-pieced double wedding ring that would be perfect for a scrappy quilt.

Google paper-pieced Double wedding ring quilt pattern and you will see the site for McCalls Quilting. Templates and instructions are there in PDF for printing or to save.

What's wrong with me??

lscho4jm 04-03-2011 12:43 PM

There is nothing wrong. You are a quilter. It is a gift and we are gifted like that.

sueisallaboutquilts 04-03-2011 12:43 PM

Jo M 04-03-2011 12:55 PM

I know what's wrong with you .... Nothing! I would say it's normal, but we're all extrodinary here on the board, right? :) :) :)

One would think with all our creative juices flowing we would all be very thin:)

Even though I'm a newbie at quilting, I have 3 going at the same time...

One I'm hand quilting...
One waiting to get batting and backing...
and the one I have started hanging on the wall...
Did I say I've been practicing FMQ on my machine and made a couple of pot holders, so I wouldnt waste the fabric...LOL

BellaBoo 04-03-2011 01:19 PM

I have been known to stop a seam half sewn on the machine and start a new project on another machine! I figure when I'm quilting it's the only time I can do what I want when I want so why not?

That is a great tip for a beginner at FMQ! Thanks for the suggestion!

Some would call it ADD or ADHD but I think we just want to try everything! Everything always takes too long so we have to start something else. I don't know if I've ever finished something that didn't actually have a recipient. It's good, though. When I find a recipient the quilt is almost done!

milp04 04-03-2011 01:33 PM

Hi, would you might sharing the link? Thanks.

Not sure if this will lead you directly to the pattern or not, but you can do a "search" once you are on the McCalls site.

Oh no!! Never thought about setting up the other machine! I could really be in trouble now!

Printed that McCall pattern a few years ago. I was afraid they would take it off the Internet. Started to make the arcs a few months ago in between other projects. Have about 45 arcs completed but I intended to only make a lap robe, but these arcs make a hugh block so I'll have to refigure how to cut it down to a smaller version.

Hey, I resemble that remark!

Actually, I've done all the arcs for that exact pattern and now...I'm working on something else. But I'll go back one of these days!

lscho4jm 04-03-2011 02:30 PM

I started counting projects I am working on at one time...stopped counting at seven.

Helen, I have the option on my printer to enlarge or reduce. I'm thinking to reduce it to 75% because they do look like a huge block. I'll play around with it. I might have to scan what I have printed and do the reduction from a scan. Thanks for the heads up!

Seven is a good number. Just assign one project to work on for each day of the week. Eventually, something will get done.

mimom 04-03-2011 03:17 PM

whats wrong with all of us. this happens to me and when ever I am in the middle of a project and find another one I want to do, I will sew a few pieces of the new project after I get done with a part of the old project. I call it using up the bobbin thread.

Good! New way to justify the temporary insanity that afflicts us all.

Thank you for the heads up for this pattern. I've made a DWR the old fashioned way, and believe me--it is very time consuming! I just may try another one, doing the paper pieced technique.
Thank you again!

I tried one by piecing several years ago and gave up in frustration. That was terrible!!

wolfkitty 04-03-2011 05:41 PM

Thanks for the link! Don't think I get to it right away, tho'.

If it makes you feel better, I am the same way. At least we are in good company.

Too funny! I feel much better now that I know my "problem" with wanting to start numerous projects is really a GIFT! Thanks for clearing that up.

justlooking 04-04-2011 02:46 AM

Sounds like most of us are the same! So that's normal, right!

mocha827 04-04-2011 02:49 AM

I actually made a wall hanging from this pattern. It is one of the hardest ones I've ever made, but it sure was beautiful.

Me too! Quilt Police take notice, when and what I want to do.

You get distracted, so you send the distraction link to US!! Thanks a lot! LOL

QuiltNama 04-04-2011 05:21 AM

Too funny...I only have at least 10 to 15 UFO's and guess what pattern I am working on right now. The paper pieced DWR from the McCall's site. Using all scraps and it is the most fun because each ring comes out perfect. As soon as I figure out how to post pics, will put some up.
