It is so wonderful to have a protector. Hopefully the machine can be repaired. If not, you will adjust to your friend's model so just go for it. Every wedding must have a pitfall. Maybe your mishap is the pitfall and the wedding will go on beautifully, just like the person you are to everyone.

Murphy's Law! I'm so sorry this happened to you. I wish we lived closer---I would loan you one of my extra machines.

matraina 01-21-2012 08:55 PM

OMG, how stressful for you! Will keep you in my prayers. That would be overwhelming for me.

Country1 01-21-2012 09:28 PM

Thank goodness you were there!... I'm sorry to hear about your machine, but at least it didn't cause a fire that could have caused more damaged.

sewnsewer2 01-22-2012 05:09 AM

Oh no!! I'm so glad you were sitting there too! It's a good idea to have a backup machine.

jpmaroni 01-22-2012 05:31 AM

Hope all will be well. Thank goodness for small wonders, it could of been a serious fire.

mouseface 01-22-2012 06:40 AM

yes this happened to me with a singer and my dealer said the motor burn up im sooooo sorry be glad you were there i was when it happened hugs

This is proof that more than one machine is needed. Maybe you should think about getting a spare either used or new.

It sounds as if you have plenty of work ahead. So glad you got it repaired quickly and cheaply.

Good thing you have another one available to use.
HE was looking after you, and will see you through to getting everything done.

I had the same thing almost happen a few years ago, so I panicked and went back to my favorite shop and bought a smaller much much much less version, so I could carry workshops, and have just in case...............

BuzzinBumble 01-22-2012 08:12 AM

Thankfully it didn't start a fire... hopefully it can be repaired. You have so much work cut out for you! Now I know where that saying comes from.

This kind of thing happened to me at Christmas sewing season one year, and I didn't have a back up machine then either. I have since decided that I was meant to have a back up machine, because I've had none of this since I have another machine (or 2 or 5!) to sew with.
Hope you can get your baby back soon. I know your pain. Hang in there.

jmabby 01-22-2012 09:21 AM

You do have a guardian angel that God gave you to be safe. Hope you get your machine back in time to get your sewing done.

marla 01-22-2012 11:21 AM

I hope Bernina will stand behing their product. That's scarey!! I never heard of machines catching fire!! Good grief!

jumpin' judy 01-22-2012 11:24 AM

The sermon this morning was about God's timing. Sounds like you are supposed to get a new machine! Hope things work out for the wedding.

earlori7 01-22-2012 08:31 PM

Glad your machine is up and running again. Thank goodness it was an affordable fix. My Pfaff quit during a summer quilt retreat, but I have a back up. My fix was way more costly than yours. Hopefully it will be the last repair for a long time. I am happy for you that you can get all the wedding projects finished.

neece 01-23-2012 08:35 AM

Thank goodness you were there! The Murphy Law applies your machine will act up ONLY when it is REALLY NEEDED! Hang in there, with all the good thoughts coming your way it will be successfully solved. HUGS HUGS HUGS My niece needed alterations on her wedding dress and I had done the alterations. She was trying it on and the zipper exploded! Of course she started crying and I started right along with her. We got it out of our systems and realized it wasn't that bad. It was still 4 days to the wedding and replacing a zipper is not a disaster. The zipper was replaced with time to spare. At the time after our drama we realized it could have happened the day of the wedding. Once we got it in perspective minor detail.

Wow - you were so lucky to be there when your baby got sick - SOOOOO glad you were able to get it repaired & cleaned so you could continue your sewing projects for the wedding.
God Bless

sewbeadit 01-24-2012 07:05 PM

Gosh so sorry this has happened. Please let us know what happens with your machine. HOw disappointing.

wraez 01-24-2012 07:08 PM

I've heard that when you take your sewing machine in for 'surgery' that you can request a loaner machine, sometimes at no additional charge, and the same as the one you brought in. I don't know if that is accurate or not, or if it is by locale, etc.. You just never know how long it will take to repair a machine.
