didn't I look for information before I did it????? I just spent weeks making a paper pieced Hunter's Star quilt top (3rd quilt ever). Spent all day removing the paper and THEN I washed it!!! Yep, I don't know why I felt the need to, but it frayed to the point of being unusable! Bwaaah! All the information on this board and all I had to do was look!
Just needed to vent!

I'm really sorry to hear that. We live and we learn, unfortunately sometimes when we don't need the lesson.

It's generally not advisable to wash a pieced top before quilting. The only way it can be safely done is to first baste the top to a foundation fabric, and then hand wash.

oh you poor thing... couldn't you just Cry? nonetheless, you now have a lot of experience under your belt - no washing machine can take That away. blessings...
