until your quilt top is done and you take a photo of it????

I have made 2 quilt tops lately and never noticed my boo-boo until I looked at the picture on the computer. UGH!!!

I did the same thing twice on both tops. I sewed two matching pieces right next to each other. I tried so hard not to do it again but oh, well. LOL!!!

Here is a picture of one of them. It is for my DD and my first try a Disappearing Nine patch. Ignore the date, I still haven't changed the camera yet. LOL!

You didn't make a mistake... you made a modification to the original design.
Very Pretty and Valentinesie.

quiltykitty 01-12-2010 08:52 PM

I'm on that galloping horse! Took me a long time to find what you are talking about. So don't worry about it.

cutebuns 01-12-2010 09:00 PM

I think that it looks great anyway!

gaigai 01-12-2010 09:05 PM

Well, since it took me about five minutes to find the boo boo, it obviously isn't that obvious.LOL Pretty quilt!!

tlrnhi 01-12-2010 09:49 PM

Boo boo or not, it's pretty.

lisalovesquilting 01-13-2010 01:03 AM

I finally found it. It really looks just fine.

Lisa773 01-13-2010 03:31 AM

I really had to search for the boo boo! Great job...love the hearts. When I first started quilting my sister told me that every quilt has a "boo boo" and only the quilter knows where it is. I think sometimes we over analyze our quilts instead of just enjoying them. We are our own worst critics.

cabbagepatchkid 01-13-2010 03:38 AM

I think it looks wonderful  !!! I still can't find your boo boo :-D

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 01-13-2010 04:19 AM

Very fun quilt. :)

Ninnie 01-13-2010 04:24 AM

Very pretty, and no one will ever know but you!!
Love the bright clean look of it!

patty48 01-13-2010 04:27 AM

Could you point out the "boo boo". I still can't find it. Love the quilt by the way.

SherriB 01-13-2010 04:28 AM

My oldest daughter loves quilts. She has requested a quilt for every holiday and season. I am not crazy about reds, but it will be her Valentine quilt. I a making another out of Moda charm packs, using the Love is in the Air line from last year. It will be just a simple patchwork quilt. Just sewing the sqares together in a row.

Oklahoma Suzie 01-13-2010 05:06 AM

looks good to me.

sewjoyce 01-13-2010 05:59 AM

Now exactly where is that mistake??? :D

quiltingfan 01-13-2010 05:59 AM

You will be the only one to notice the mistake. Everybody else will think it is the way you wanted to place your pieces. Love the colors. Beth

renee765 01-13-2010 06:12 AM

It seems to me that your squares are placed in random order. Sometimes in nature, random order results in two identical things placed side by side (twins, for example). Not a thing wrong with that. Your quilt is beautiful, and if anyone says anything about the two like squares next to each other, just tell them 'that's nature'.

Astramorgaine 01-13-2010 06:28 AM

I have to say also, I wouldn't have noticed the error if you didn't point it out. Great job on your first disappearing nine patch :) I also like what Leota said, that you just made a modification to the design.

Rose Marie 01-13-2010 10:22 AM

I do that alot myself and dont notice till its too late.
Now I try to hang my quilt blocks for a few days on the flannel design wall and look at it frequently to see if there are mistakes.
I did not notice yours till you pointed it out.
Love you colors and prints.

Pineapple Princess 01-13-2010 10:40 AM

Umm, what mistake? The only one who will ever notice is you, so don't worry about it!

Kryssa 01-13-2010 10:45 AM

If I didn't know that you weren't supposed to have 2 of the same blocks next to eachother and wasn't actually looking for a mistake, I would have never noticed an error!

Jingle 01-14-2010 06:05 AM

I think it looks great and since you are giving it away, I am sure it will be accepted as it is.

me, too... You did great!

texasannie 01-14-2010 06:34 AM

You did not make a "mistake" you made a signature....it is YOUR mark on a very special quilt made especially for someone!! There are NO mistakes, only character building, or signatures of your work! That quilt is absolutely gorgeous.....I am going to havet to make me a red/white one and that pattern seems like something even I could do!

Greendragon6889 01-14-2010 07:33 AM

Took me a minute to find it also. I think you did a wonderful job.

Ditto. Took me forever to even find it. Love the quilt.

nativetexan 01-14-2010 07:51 AM

that invariably happens. don't fret. we all do it. our eyes get tired and we just dont' see it.

Shelley 01-14-2010 07:54 AM

If that's what you call a mistake...you have a LOT more quilts to make!!! I could give you some doozies - like a basket quilt with one basket upside down. Cute quilt!!!

I had to really look for the "mistake," too! It's a beautiful quilt. I'm sure she'll love it and probably won't notice at all.

Debbie1 01-14-2010 08:27 AM

It took so long to find your "boo boo", it's not obvious at all. It's a very pretty quilt by the way!

Boxer mom 01-14-2010 08:46 AM

I did the same ting until I started putting my pieces together as I made them on my wall (I have a plastic table cloth with the felt backing hanging on my wall) and now I take them off one at a time and sew them together. I double check before I sew them together.

mar32428 01-14-2010 09:07 AM

My horse was tooo fast. I never did find it.

Boxer mom 01-14-2010 09:11 AM

Thank you, it was only the 6th quilt I made. I just got into quilting a year ago and just love it.

wraez 01-14-2010 11:26 AM

I couldn't find the 'mistake' had no clue what you were talking about till I finished reading...obviously the eye gravitates to the photo first.

Hey if you can spot a mistake from a train racing 100 miles an hr at 50 feet away, THEN there is a mistake. No one is going to see what you think is a mistake, so don't point it out to them.

The 'heart' quilt is lovely. really.

warm quilt hugs, sue in CA

MadQuilter 01-14-2010 12:21 PM

The law of averages suggests that even in a random design, some like squares will be aligned. It is beautiful. Don't stress.

You're okay if it takes everyone as long to find it as it did me.

Momwood 01-14-2010 12:56 PM

I've made a lot of mistakes in my quilts and felt bad until one of the members on this forum told me that no one is perfect in his creations except God. I have since learned to live with my imperfections and those I create. This is a lovely quilt and you should be proud of it!

pittsburgpam 01-14-2010 01:29 PM

It took me a minute to find the two next to each other and who says it can't be that way? It looks great.

Next time take a picture of the top before quilting it or even take a picture when you do a section or row, however it's put together. I also don't see mistakes sometimes until I see it on my screen.

Deecee 01-14-2010 01:38 PM

There are no mistakes to see in a quilt as pretty as this one.
