I bought a fabulous desk to use for a cutting table when we move to the new house. It isn't tall enough so we decided to go the pvc pipe route to raise it up since that method seemed highly recommended here... Sadly the table is really wobbly.

Has anyone had this problem with their table - if so, how did you fix it?

We're probably just going to scrap the desk I got & use it for something else or sell it... and then invest in something else but I'm not sure what at this point..

How do you do the pvc pipe extension? I've never heard of that before.

Can you add a "support beam" from one leg to another so that it is stabilized?

Have you thought of using bed risers ??

cut pvc pipe and place the legs into the open ends. Raises the height-since I am tall I made mine longer than at the LQS. I also added wheels.

Are you using a desk? It might be too heavy for the pvc.. I use a 4ft table from walmart and have no problems after I raised it with pvc.

I use bed risers. They are more expensive than PVC pipe but a lot more
stable. They come in 2 different heights. I can adjust the height depending
on what I'm doing.

The bed risers did not raise it up enough... It was a few inches too short with the bed raisers.

The table is very heavy. Maybe that's all it is - just the weight of the table itself.
We're thinking of doing this now http://ana-white.com/2010/02/plans-b...-top-with.html

Sometimes you just got to regroup and adapt :D

If you're tall you need to double the bed risers. Mine are stackable.
I believe they come in 5" and 3" so I can make them up to 8" higher.
Whatever you decide, it has to be for YOUR height. Compare it to
your kitchen countertop...try to cut fabric and see if it's comfortable
and go from there.

I used pvc pipes with endcaps on a folding cutting table and it does not wobble. maybe the desk is too heavy.
