I have done similar things also and have to just put it away till another day. I am so glad you had extra fabric.
And I loved your description of "woke up with stupid hat on"! That sure says it for some of my mornings (and afternoons and evenings and shoot, whole days"! |

the stupidest thing I've done so far this year was to match an orange solid to a brown/beige/orange print in evening artificial light and sew together to discover taht in natural daylight the colors are waaaaaaaaaaaaay off. Still a snuggly rag quilt so it stays.

I had that kind of day yesterday, trying to paper piece stars. Three times, I placed the fabric to far to one side and had a "hole" in the pattern. I gave up and folded fabric instead. That's the great thing about a stash, there's always some organizing to do.

I was having trouble last night trying to figure out which way to turn my ruler to cut my pieces. Took me a little while then the "light bulb" went off over my head and I got it. When I have days like that, I clean up around my sewing machine and do things that don't require much thinking. haha

I thought I was going to see a funny picture! It is always nice to have extra fabric.
