My quilting daughter and her family are visiting from New Jersey here in South Carolina. We only see each other twice a year, up there at Christmastime, and in August each year here. Yesterday was a day I will fondly remember always. We took a 2 1/2 hour ride to Mary Jo's fabric store in North Carolina. We got there in the morning, just looked around at what was there, then went to lunch. After lunch we went back and did some serious shopping! What a wonderful way to spend some quality time with a very special person in my life.

I enjoy just spending time with my daughters too. I was in NC last month because I have 2 daughters, 6 GKs and 10 GGD in New Bern. Where is Mary Jos located?

What a nice way to spend time with your daughter! Now if I could only get my two daughters interested in quilting/sewing. (they are 20 and 16). However, my son, at age 10, loves to make pillowcases and embroidery cars on them.

colwoods 08-18-2011 09:58 AM

I love going to Mary Jo's in Gastonia, NC. My daughter will go with me but she doesn't sew or quilt so she doesn't understand the ooohs and aaahs. Glad you had a great day.

sweetana3 08-18-2011 11:48 AM

I was so overwhelmed by Mary Jo's the first time I visited that I walked in and walked out. Had to get prepared to look at so much fabric.

GrandmaMarilyn 08-18-2011 12:31 PM

So glad you were able to enjoy the time with your daughter. I was so happy when my daughter became interested in quilting - it's such a special bond and such a wonderful way to spend time together. Hope you can keep enjoying it for a loooooong time!!

jpmaroni 08-18-2011 01:29 PM

What special memories you will have from the day!

MarilynLouise 08-18-2011 01:48 PM

Lucky you! Wish I had a daughter. My boys are great but they aren't interested in quilting and their wives are too busy. I'm working on my grandchildren!

CarolinePaj 08-18-2011 02:10 PM

Wow.... so glad you had some real quality time with your daughter.

Hugs

Never been to Mary Jo's but have known about it for years. I'm only about 2.5 hours from there. HMMMMM.....maybe a short road trip on Labor Day weekend????
