Double batting makes the quilting much more pronounced, especially with wool on the top. The cotton batting on the bottom is stable and supports the heavy quilting that many show quilts have.

I just finished my first project w/ Quilters Dream Wool Batting. Absolutely loved it. It's been washed and i line dried it. I did get the crinkly look, but I figure that is more from the fabric shrinking than the batt. Quilters Dream products have minimal shrinkage - even the cotton battings. Did not expereince bearding, but, i only had minimal black in the quilt. I can't wait to use the wool again.

I love wool batting, have used it often and have Never had any sign of bearding. I use quilters Dream and Hobbs wool batts. They are lightweight, lofty, wonderful to work with, drape beautifully, are my batts of choice. My summer quilt actually has a Hobbs wool batt. I launder that quilt, regular wash, regular dryer, I love pulling that quilt out of the dryer, it's so soft, fluffy - huggable. No bearding ever- 10 years now.

I have a large lap robe quilt that has wool on the top and cotton on the bottom for the batting.
This quilt has been ABUSED for the last year, but I have not seen any issues with the batting.
I do not know what brand the Quilter put in it, but it seems to hold up great.

I absolutely LOVE wool bat and have had not issues with it. It's a dream to quilt through, is light and drapes well and it breathes so don't get overly hot yet is plenty warm too. I've used it for baby quilts and ones that go to the g-boys--so since they are very young, that often means a washing the next day!

I like to use a wool bat on top of a cotton bat (Hobbs 80/20) if it's for show or when I have a quilt that has embroidery or applique that I want to quilt tightly around so that it pops like trapunto--but the lazy girl way!

I love wool batting. Never ever had a problem with bearding. It nice and lite, but also very warm. It quilts like butter. As with anything else it pays to buy good quality.

I quilt for many people and have not had any problems with wool bearding. It quilts up beautifully.

Another fan of wool batting. I have one lap, quilt that has lots of dark blue in it, and no bearding. I wash it every couple of months because my cat loves it too! Front loader, gentle wash, second spin, dry on low. No problems over the last 5 years or so.

I bought a package of wool batting to try and I liked it so much that I bought a roll of it. I used it in a batik lap quilt. The backing was also batik. I washed and dried it like all the other quilts I have made. I was horrified when I pulled it out of the dryer. The bearding was excessive. The company replaced the roll plus sent me a roll of cotton batting. I sent the company some of the batting so they could test it, but I never heard back from them. Next time, I will line dry. Static will make the wool fibers migrate out.

Has anyone used Pellon Nature's Touch 50/50 wool/cotton batting? I can't find any reviews online. http://www.pellonprojects.com/produc...eedle-punched/
