it's only a waste of time if you use us as an excuse to do nothing else.

personally, i think all the stuff i have to do at the office is a waste of time i could be spending here. really now ... shouldn't my mere presence there be reason enough to hand me that check every two weeks? why should i have to work there, too?

Patrice Everyone here knows your worth your weight in gold. Maybe someone should tell them at the office.

I'll second that.

Hey, I just thought of something. Why isn't the phrase "I quit this *insert swearing* quilt!" not on the list?

because that would make us quitters instead of quilters.

the correct phrase is "I'm sick of fighting with this *insert swearing* quilt. so i'll:
(a) make it a tablerunner instead
(b) make it a pillow instead
(c) put it at the bottom of the UFO pile and work on one of the others instead or (my personal favorite)
(d) shove it away in a drawer and start a NEW quilt!"

Exactly. That's why it should be on the list of phrases quilters should never use. Right?

you are absolutely correct.

it's pretty bad, isn't it, when you get your own point bass ackwards? glad you were paying more attention.

In a book, I read that the author referred to UFO's as WIP's ( works in progress). I think it sounds more hopeful :-)

Yep, like the mantle clock I started building in 1973. I still have it, so it's a WIP, right?

Don't WIPs come with chains?

What about "I'm afraid"? Would that work for your list?

I'm rather apprehensive about my upcoming project, but I'm gonna do it anyway. Saw the pattern in a magazine, loved it and that's what I want to do next. But when do we know if we bit off more than we can chew?? This pattern makes me a little nervous.....
