Darn, now I have to Google crumb blocks (lol).
|
Amazes me that people can take smallest of things and make things! I tried to use 2" squares and got frustrated! Guess doesn't help I am visually impaired!!😂
|
Wowzers! These are all works of art! Thank you all for sharing and inspiring!

What is a "crumb" please?

I hate to remove paper from the back, especially for minis. So I use a sharpi and copy/draw the lines onto washable stabilizer. After making the crumb block via paper piecing method, I wash away the backing: (it is blurry because you are looking at plastic over paper)

I think this mini quilt holds the record of number of pieces for me. It's 14 x 14 and close to 700 pieces. I made the stars 3" with extra around the edges to avoid matching point.
These are paper pieced, and some of the pieces ended up only 1/8" wide. I graded all the seams to help them lay flat, and hand tacked a lot of the points together when assembling the stars. |

I like the little ones but I have a list of big quilts that I need to do first before I can play. Jane I literally ran out of fabric when I first started quilting and I used some of my green scraps to make some 2' or 2 1/2" blocks - scrappy about 8 pieces per block. But, I don't know what to do with them. How small can you go if the quilt is meant to be used and washed? I thought I would have to come up with a wallhanging idea to use them.
Love the star mini that might be something I could aspire to. |
Kelsie, that mini block is now part of a king size quilt which is in the ufo pile 100% assembled, but only 60% quilted. It is my next scheduled UFO to attack in 2018. I'm never afraid to use the crumbs, just finish them....LOL

Kelsie, this is on my bed right now. The 9P's measure 1 1/2". I just finished a large quilt (76x76) with 3" house blocks, 278 of them with 18 pieces each (+5000 total), no pics yet and must decide how to quilt it. Started making houses in 2012.
