I just sewed a scant 1/4 in with my trusty singer machine. I took the fabric and moved it left, under my pressure foot.

Good for you I still can't figure it out.
I keep trying and I can't get the 1/4 inch right.

Keep sewing and measuring the seam allowance with a ruler, keep on keeping on...you will get it

On my old machines, I would use painters tape (used to use masking tape) and mark the 1/4" line.......with the scant 1/4" just move the tape to the left a little bit.

a scant 1/4 inch is in actuality only 3/8th if you have a machine that has a moveable needle then with the needle set in the direct middle just shift it over one click to the right on the needle adjustment button if you have a set needle you will have to learn the sweet spot but moving the fabric under the presser foot.

I'm lucky in that I can move my needle. Actually on the new machine, I prefer to move the needle and use the regular sewing foot instead of the 1/4" foot.
