Gayle, what an absolutely stunning quilt. You fabric selection is great. The best thing is to try different suggestion and take a photo. Then choose what pleases you. I would suggest a 1 to 1.5 inch light fabric inside border to create breathing room between the outside border and the quilt. Then a darker green and matching binding for the outside border. LOVE IT !! :)

Gorgeous quilt. I think this quilt would definitely benefit from a border. I would be half tempted to double border. A strip the same size as what is in your quilt in a light then your dark green. But it is hard to say without first auditioning it. I love the colors in your quilt.

A border would look great. Beautiful quilt!!

great quilt

Boy this is a hard one. I agree that without a border it is very modern looking and absolutely gorgeous. That said, I do believe a dark green border would enhance your beautiful work and the colors. Don't think I'd go with two colors as it would detract from the beauty of the fantastic work you have done.

This is a beautiful quilt and love the colors. I try to always add a border to my quilts to me that says 'look at me, I'm finished'.
I would NOT border it. It has a lot of fun movement as it is, and a border would put the stops on that, IMO.... Just find a lovely binding for it!
The dark green border would frame it nicely. I would add the border if I need the quilt to be bigger.
I put borders on all my quilts. I find that it frames your quilt like a frame complements a picture.

What a beautiful quilt! A border would be nice to set it off.

Thank you everyone...a border (or two) it is! :)
I would use a solid brown for the border would finish the quilt nicely.
I would use the green as a border. I like how it would frame the quilt.
You did a fantastic job on your Strip Twist quilt, it's beautiful. I think you're on the right track with a dark green marbled fabric, but I might audition to see if I would want a small inner border, then the larger dark green border.
really lovely strip quilt, love the colors, and have to admit i would be happy with just binding to proudly display the quilt as is ... but your decision of course
Yes, i would put a border on it. It needs a place to rest the eyes.
I would definitely do a border..Very pretty quilt...

I love your quilt colors I made this quilt and added a 3" boarder. Here is a picture of mine.

Beautiful Quilt!!! I would border because I like that look.
I'd also audition a medium grey marbled color. It might be more in keeping with the modern feel off your quilt and not "compete" with the greens.
Love your quilt. Borders definitely. I'd frame it with a very thin (1/2" - 3/4") very dark green or even black border then a wider border.
it def. needs a border as a finisher
Lovely quilt and I have seen this pattern finished both ways. I would prefer the border like the previous posts have mentioned.
I am working on my second top and was trying to figure out wheter or not to border. The second will be much bigger. The tops are very scrappy and so I am wondering how to go about choosing a colour/colours.??? Just good or trial and error ?
I border about every quilt I make. I just like the look. Like it is framed piece of art. So yes I would like a border. lol
Yes, I agree, very nice quilt. I think it was Maggie Malone who said, the stronger your design, the more you need a Border: like putting a fence around your Bull. Keeps the design contained. (paraphrased).

*** Yes to the border. *** |
What a goregous quilt!! I think a border would enhance it's beauty, but it's not necessary!

Well I guess I the odd man out on this one--I would NOT put a border on it . It is a beautiful quilt with a modern feel to it and to keep with that I would just add binding, no border. I am partial to more modern quilt designs and the majority of them don't have borders. To me a border would distract from the clean geometric design lines. You did a great job on it and love the colors!!

Another vote for going border-free.

I agree that a border is a good idea - gives the eye a place to stop!
Great use of color in your quilt. |
I love your quilt and the colors in it. My husband is an artist and has told me many times that every quilt needs some kind of a border to kinda stop the action - just like a picture needs a picture frame to stop the action, or stop the picture that is inside of it. It doesn't have to be real big, but just something to say the quilt design is finished. I think a dark green one would be gorgeous.
I agree with everyone. Yes a border. And I would say something with 2 different shades of green for the border.
Exactly what I was thinking!

What a beautiful quilt. A dark green border would frame it perfectly.

I must be the odd one out, but I would just bind it

I agree - I think a border would be great.
