I like #1, it seems to blend better with the other fabrics. The other option just doesn't blend.

I usually pretend there is no background when I make my fabric selections. I really do not like white on white (frequently chosen by others as the background color), so I choose blocks without an obvious background.

I like the warmer look of the 1st one but the 2nd one makes your batiks really pop. So I'm sitting on the fence on this. Depends on the look you want to get I think.

I like them both... I think it depends on what colors you want to pop. 1 appears to bring out the red and yellow tones while #2 brings out the blues and greens but not as boldly
