Which fabric would you choose for my falling charms quilt? I like them all.

Baysidegal 10-27-2013 06:49 AM

I like them all as well. If I had to pick one, I would pick the blue..

susie-susie-susie 10-27-2013 06:56 AM

I like the red with flowers.
Sue

cowgirlquilter 10-27-2013 07:08 AM

I would pick the blue, but they are all gorgeous contenders!!!!

The red with flowers is my ironing pad :(

ManiacQuilter2 10-27-2013 07:15 AM

I am not familiar with the pattern you mentioned but what about a shade of gold that is in both fabrics???

OOPS. Just saw your posting. I had thought that might be the border. I like the blue because it pops.

quiltin-nannie 10-27-2013 07:21 AM

I love the red polka dot!

same for me

crafty pat 10-27-2013 07:23 AM

I think I would go with the blue.

Tartan 10-27-2013 07:26 AM

Falling Charms is a great pattern for using completely unrelated or scrap squares. I would use them all!

aronel 10-27-2013 07:42 AM

I like the red polka dots, but they are all excellent options.

willferg 10-27-2013 07:43 AM

I wonder...if you could border some in red and some in blue and then alternate in the layout...hmmm.

Dolphyngyrl 10-27-2013 07:49 AM

blue or red polka dot, don't care for the solid

mighty 10-27-2013 07:52 AM

I really like the blue.

DebbE 10-27-2013 07:53 AM

Blue, because of the contrast.

LOL! I was going to pick that one also

dunster 10-27-2013 08:04 AM

When in doubt... use them all!

I'm a little confused, as the Falling Charms that I have seen, has a consistent background fabric with an assortment of different fabrics for the Falling Charms. I'm not so sure you would be effective to use one consistent fabric for all the charms.

I can see your white print as the background fabric ... which would then mean several different ones for the charms. I'd start with what you have, though I would probably leave out the plain red as it reads much the same as the dotted red. I'd look for a darker blue to add to the mix, a gold print, and something with the red-blue-gold all together, plus any others that work with the mix. That is, if I wanted a multi-colour RW+B look.

Otherwise, I would look for an assortment of blues ... or reds that mix and match.

AliKat 10-27-2013 08:25 AM

Though I don't know the pattern I love the red dimples and the red flowers.

Prism99 10-27-2013 10:40 AM

I am assuming the 5" squares of medical fabric will be the charms, and you are trying to decide on the sashing? Depends on if you are aiming for a calm quilt or a cheery quilt. The blue would calm down the entire quilt; red would enliven it. Between the reds, I actually prefer the solid over the little dots.

For those not familiar with the pattern, here is a link to a Youtube tutorial:

The completed quilt is hanging in the background.

I'm partial to blue, so I'd pick the blue. But if you wanted one of the reds, I would choose the deeper red on the right.

piepatch 10-28-2013 02:50 AM

I like the blue.

nunnyJo 10-28-2013 03:15 AM

really like the pin dot

deedum 10-28-2013 03:27 AM

the red, either one. Not the blue.

margied 10-28-2013 04:30 AM

I would pick the blue but then you seem to lean towards red in which case i would go for the darker red - right side of picture - but they all would look good

IraJane 10-28-2013 05:04 AM

Check Missouri Star Quilt videos for the pattern. It is a quick, fun project.

The Blue seems to anchor the piece the best. The reds feel like they are floating. I would choose blue.

Wow, now that's a challenge. I like them all, but if I had to pick I'd go with the blue.

tessagin 10-28-2013 07:35 AM

I like them all but if I have to choose it would be the blue!

zzmom 10-28-2013 08:19 AM

I like the blue and the little daisies. Very cute!

omacookie 10-28-2013 08:23 AM

I agree with Tartan. Use all the fabrics. Hugs

MargeD 10-28-2013 09:57 AM

I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help as I like the fabrics, especially the nurse fabric.

Letty 10-28-2013 10:18 AM

Why not mix and match ? Letty x

Tiggersmom 10-28-2013 10:21 AM

I like the red with the flowers the best. But that's me. I love red.

lbc 10-28-2013 10:30 AM

I rarely use blue and love red, but in this case I think the blue looks best. I used some of this fabric in a quilt for my daughter who is a nurse.

matraina 10-28-2013 11:37 AM

They're all pretty. I like the red on the right.

quiltnotes 10-28-2013 12:49 PM

Beautiful fabrics. I prefer the blue.
