That is definately a big, fat, NO! I love, love, love fabric but for every piece I have to have, there are 10 others on the shelf just as nice.

tuesy 11-18-2010 03:59 PM

Ummm, one word.. NO!

tjradj 11-18-2010 04:07 PM

I think we've just found the definition of "insanity."

pocoellie 11-18-2010 04:30 PM

She sure won't get me for a customer. That's insane!!!

pookie ookie 11-18-2010 04:32 PM

Jamiestitcher62 gave me a good laugh. Thanks.

I've paid a lot more than that for interior design fabrics. Furnishings, draperies, pillows, fabric wallpaper, etc. Gets pricey.

It's definitely not everyday quilting prices. It's fine for "green" and art projects.

Doing the math... I've paid about $500 for a queen size in the past and that's about as high as I'll go in fabric shopping for quilting.

Suzi P 11-18-2010 04:33 PM

Wow--I am in the wrong line of work! But seriously some people just have way too much money and don't care what things cost.

mommamac 11-18-2010 04:47 PM

if I did I certainly wouldn't have to worry about having a stash - I couldn't afford it! LOL

bgullett 11-18-2010 06:23 PM

Yikes!!!!! Not me.

akgranny 11-18-2010 07:46 PM

never! not for a piece of cloth -- BUT for a skein of fabulous yarn? ohhhh, yea!

smiles 11-18-2010 07:51 PM

Never

Rann 11-18-2010 09:49 PM

No way, no how.

chamby 11-19-2010 02:40 AM

I do believe that someone has feel and bumped their head!!
However there are always the nuts who will pay that much just to say look what I got. CRAZY!!!!!

uniquelynancy 11-19-2010 04:19 AM

And I thought $12 a yard was too much! Who pays that much? The price is going up the first of the year so buy your fabric now.

#1piecemaker 11-19-2010 04:25 AM

Heck NO!!!

mcar 11-19-2010 04:43 AM

Unique and strange, and possibly a short run printing can add up the costs.....not interested, as simple quilting can add up too.

theresa.redington 11-19-2010 04:50 AM

NOPE!

Rettie V. Grama 11-19-2010 04:55 AM

No. But what kind of fabric is it. I can go to any store that sells upholstery fabric and buy for less than that a yard.

If you click on this story and read through to the 2nd store owner, she talks about regionally inspired fabrics. She's charging $60 a yard, and almost $17 for a fat quarter...would you pay this amount for fabric???

I know I wouldn't...

Zephyr 11-19-2010 05:05 AM

No way.

Rettie V. Grama 11-19-2010 05:07 AM

I wouldn't pay that much for fabric but there may be a ligimit reason for the price From the article is states: "The fabric is upholstery weight canvas that’s made from recycled plastic bottles."

SO? That is still way too much money for fabric.

Ellie'sNana 11-19-2010 05:31 AM

No way!

The fabric is upholstery weight canvas. Would you include canvas in your quilt tops? I wouldn't, so don't really see the need for selling fat quarters of it. Plus I don't think I'd pay $16 for a fat quarter either.

jdavis 11-19-2010 05:38 AM

Nope!

And in the current economy, I think it would be silly to produce such a product.

Fabaddict 11-19-2010 05:45 AM

NOT A CHANCE

dehgranny6 11-19-2010 05:47 AM

I'm with you!

lillybeck 11-19-2010 06:03 AM

This woman is an artist and that is why the prices are so high. This is stuff that is used for art work and upholstry not for quilting and sewing. If I had the money I would buy the material for wall art.

reginalovesfabric 11-19-2010 06:04 AM

not no, but heck NO...

It would depend on the need, the fabric and the project. I used to pay as much as $15 to $20 a yard for bathing suit material. Usually only needed 1 to 1 1/2 yards for a suit. I taught swimming and was in the pool for six to eight hours a day. My suits HAD to last for at least six months.

AnnT 11-19-2010 07:00 AM

Not me! Way out of my price range!

CarrieAnne 11-19-2010 07:09 AM

I would never be able to afford to!

Grandma Libby 11-19-2010 07:36 AM

Notta. I have a question about printing photos on your computer. Is there a "softer" but better version or way to do it without using those printer sheets we get at the fabric store. I used one of those with a pic for a little boy I did a quilt for and the picture is almost gone. You can't hardly see it. I'm just wondering if there's a better way to put pictures on fabric so they won't fade away quickly. I thnk his mother washed it in the washer but I'm sure she didn't use anything that should have caused that pic to wash out so bad. Ideas?

iamjanet 11-19-2010 07:53 AM

Never

Aunt Bea 11-19-2010 08:12 AM

The only one crazier than the seller would be the buyer

Okay I can see it for specialty fabrics but for common ordinary quilt fabric, that is ridiculous. If she is waiting for quilters to come in and pay that price, she is going to go out of business quick. I am grinding my teeth at $10.25 a yard which is what I hear fabric is going to.

GloBug 11-19-2010 09:19 AM

I would not even look at a fabric at that price.
One of my quilting friends is realy into app.and was hunting for a swade in black and was told that it would be $79 a yard,So I started looking localy and found it for $ 10 a yard. as she only needs 3/4 yard this price really apealed to her.

catrancher 11-19-2010 09:30 AM

Only if it were made from spun gold.

Ditto!

I honestly can't imagine the pricing is for cotton quilting fabrics tho' which would explain the prices being charged.

patski 11-19-2010 10:25 AM

absolutely NO way!! For that I'd figure out how to paint my own fabric.

pheasantduster 11-19-2010 10:30 AM

absolutely not - unless maybe if each yard came with a cleaning woman for a month!
