Had to make a run to town today, looking for a specific fabric I need. So I cruised back to my local walmarts fabrics. And WOW...it was like a feast on candy!!!
Now, I need more money and a afternoon to shop!
They had some wonderful fabrics in there. Alot that had never been there before!

BrendaB 09-02-2011 03:56 PM

So glad you stopped by and had fun. Be sure and show us what you get. :-)

Lady Crafter 09-02-2011 04:00 PM

Sure hope our Walmart gets with the program. They only have a sampling of fabric now. :-(

Tammy, which town is this in? I haven't been to Wally World in a long time except the Pharmacy to get my med's. Then I'm in and out like a flash!

Bueniebabe 09-02-2011 04:29 PM

Walmart Dubuque Iowa are filling up their shelves with lots of fabric. I bought some fire truck fabric a couple of weeks ago and both those bolts are gone. They had a pile that still had the plastic on.

Liz aka Helen 09-02-2011 04:33 PM

Luckily the tfree walmart s that are within 100 miles all have fabric, woohoo

sheilajstewart 09-02-2011 04:33 PM

Our Walmart here in Eden, NC. Has never stopped having fabric, But I have noticed a bigger volume, some price increases and certainly better quality. We have Won! Yeaaaaaaaah

COYOTEMAGIC 09-02-2011 04:37 PM

Our Walmart did a remodel and got rid of fabric.People threw a fit.

They are remodeling to put it back in!

jrtpetey 09-02-2011 05:20 PM

Our Wal-marts have either very little fabric now or none!

Xstitshmom 09-02-2011 05:21 PM

I'll have to check out the fabric the next time I go.

Dyan 09-02-2011 05:23 PM

one of my local 4 Walmarts never did get rid of fabric, and I agree with others, the selection has been better, and prices a little higher.

suzee 09-02-2011 05:55 PM

I so wish our Walmart would get with the program and bring back the fabric. They don't carry any at all =(

Country1 09-02-2011 06:11 PM

Main reason to go there! lol

Ditto here!

jaciqltznok 09-02-2011 07:58 PM

I hope ours get better fabric that the precuts they have now...really bad fabrics...

wanda lou 09-02-2011 09:46 PM

today my local Walmart had bolts of fabric still in plastic for $5.00 each, I bought a couple of white fabric.

leatheflea 09-02-2011 10:33 PM

Our walmart has brought it back and so far I'm not impressed with the quality or the price. I used to buy from walmart, but this stuff is very thin. No thanks, and no I'm not a LQS gal, I buy whats good at a reasonable price.

The WW 10 miles west of me had a cutting table and no one to cut fabric. the WW 10 miles north of me still has pre-cuts.

I found some very pretty fabric for 1.50 a yard and ended up leaving it on the cutting table. One of these days, I'm going to learn to use that little machine of theirs and cut my own stuff.

the newer WW that NEVER had fabric is the one who's got bolts and a cutting table and no one working there! @@

I'm thinking that those letters that some of the ladies from the QB wrote worked! YAAAAAY!!!!!! My store in this area, they just remodeled and put in a lot of new items. I want to believe that writing the corporate offices helped.

Ours too! They had a big sale of all the fabric and said that they were stopping. The next time I went in I went to see what was in the fabric area. Surprise, they are building up their fabrics again. Yippeeeeeeee!

Quilt-Till-U-Wilt 09-03-2011 04:08 AM

I got name brand fabric there that I couldn't find anywhere else.

I have to agree. I was excited to see the fabric coming back, but they haven't brought in much and most of it is really bad. Saw about three bolts of decent fabric last time I checked. I'm also not an exclusive LQS buyer and I almost always buy on sale.

Gabs 09-03-2011 04:15 AM

Same thing here. I nearly fell over when I saw bolts and bolts of fabric being stock. I guess all our emails and complaints hit home.

Tinabodina 09-03-2011 04:20 AM

I haven't check recently. We have two in our area. One carries hardly any and the other is a bit better. Hope they decide to bring a better variety.

Becky Mc 09-03-2011 04:30 AM

Our Wally World has never lost its fabric department but down sized it to two short rows one side each with cutting table in middle no patterns anymore, and these two short rows have sewing notions and yarn, machines ect in them so very little room for fabric and they are getting more fabric it is piled on top of each other and you have to dig through to see it all very cramped while the pet supplies has 2 1/2 rows two sided and spread out not cramped and empty space, wish they would down size that and give our material department more room, and the other down side is that the gals not only have fabric department but craft and another department to do and they are accross the the store, real stupid when setting that up our old WW not the super store, had it all in the same area so the worker was all ways there. But no one ever said WW higher ups were smart.

texaspam 09-03-2011 04:38 AM

I get a little chuckle every time I hear of another Walmart bringing their fabric back. I would be willing to bet that the corporate folks who made that decision had no idea how many quilters went to Walmart, especially after Joann's drastically reduced their number of locations! but....I have news for Walmart and Joanns. I learned to do my shopping ahead of time online and I am getting better deals and better quality. I have noticed that in the Houston metropolitan area, the new fabric departments do not all look the same. Some are even larger than others.

Enjoy your fabric!

TOMMIE 09-03-2011 04:47 AM

We have 2 wally worlds close by no fabric

SunlitenSmiles 09-03-2011 04:54 AM

we do not have a Walmart.

celwood 09-03-2011 04:57 AM

We have three Walmarts in the area and none of them carry fabric. You are lucky that your Walmart carries it.

joycecil 09-03-2011 05:00 AM

Guess I need to make a trip.

Quilt-Till-U-Wilt 09-03-2011 05:06 AM

I have trouble buying fabric on line. Right now I'm looking for yellow but I need to see it up close to coordinate it with what I'm going to be using it with.

Cheryl 09-03-2011 05:16 AM

Yes I was so Happy when I saw that Wal Mart is bringing their bolts of fabric back, and the prices aren't bad either. There was alot of fabric that I never would have thought would be in there. I have some material with wolves on it and I need just the one big picture with one on it and guess what they had that panel in there for only $5.and some odd cents. I also saw some fabrics by Cranston too. I'm so glad people complained enough to the home off of Wal Mart to bring it back. Have fun shopping ...

Sunnye 09-03-2011 05:19 AM

The Walmart's in Louisville don't carry any fabric anymore. Haven't for a few years now.

conniebrooks 09-03-2011 05:25 AM

Would love if our Walmart would bring back the material...

Walmart Coralville, Iowa says they'll have fabric back in Sept. Anxious to see how it is. New one in Iowa City had some, but they haven't been open for long, so maybe (hope) they're getting more.
