WOW, What a Great Find

My husband and I have gotten very interested in estate sales so we went to one listed on CL close to our house. I wasn't really expecting to find anything that I needed but, boy, was I surprised. After looking thru the upstairs I went to the basement and there it was. Totes and Totes of fabric, some still on the bolt and the price was $1.00 a piece. There were about 10 of us ladies rummaging thru the totes and in sight of 30 minutes we had pretty much emptied them. Here is a picture of what I got for $10. There is a total of about 70 yards here. Most of the pieces were 7-9 yard pieces. I cut them into smaller yardage for ease of laundering. Most of these are Christmas fabrics but since I make lapthrows for the Nursing Home it really didn't make any difference. These 70 yards work out to be about $.14 per yard. These are really nice 100% cotton and I have seen several of them at JoAnns. I was one who had decided to not purchase any fabric this year but this was just too good of a deal to pass up. I will make room for this fabric somewhere.

I wonder if I was at the same one. I bought a complete set of 13 (2 of one month) block of the month from JoAnn's Christmas quilt (including setting kit) for $1.30! The lady at the check out said patterns were $.10 each. I did tell her that these were kits, not just patterns, but she said the price was the same! Have no idea when I will get to this kit, but couldn't pass it up.

I can't wait to run into such a "pick". I felt really lucky to find about 4 1/2 yard of Michael Miller "Pink Azaleas" for $6 at our local ARC this week. My "stash" is very limited.

faykilgore 03-13-2012 05:48 PM

What a blessing for someone who shares blessings! I love the big polka dots! It makes me smile to imagine 10 women digging through totes full of fabric and trying to guard their treasures while digging for more! That was quite an armload of fabric you hauled out of there!

QandE2010 03-13-2012 05:51 PM

You really got some nice looking fabric. Excited for you. Thanks for sharing your good news. :)

Wow what a gteat find, lucky you :)

jcrow 03-13-2012 07:49 PM

I'm not that lucky. I need to start going to estate sales, 2nd hand stores, and even garage sales. It seems a lot of people find sewing machines and fabric all the time.
