Christmas seems so far away even though I know it is not.

Update on 8/29: Thank you all for your interest in the tree skirts. The next time I do one, I will do a step-by-step tutorial for those of you who are interested. |
I am making Christmas garlands out of Yo Yos. The garland has a picture of each member of the family on a yo yo. I used 3 different size of yo yos. Loads of fun, and great TV watching project.

I picked up the following magazine: "A Quilted Christmas" By Quilters World fall 2011, It has alot of different items in it. I just completed the Christmas Log Runner on page 43. It is lovely even if i do say so myself. Plus I used scraps for it. I like 7 patterns in the mag which is great for one magazine I think. I will post a picture of it soon

I purchased that magazine too and look forward to several projects from there. The log cabin runner is on my list.

OK I will post a picture. The photos I used the photo fabric and cut them out as yo yos.

Cooky, I used photo fabric to print form my ink jet printer. You can get this a JoAnn's. You could also use transfer paper that you iron on your fabric. Actually that would be cheaper, but I had a lot of the photo fabric. You can get transfer paper at Office Depot or the like. I have included some pictures of the process and the final product. I used about 75 yo yo's to make the garland.
Start by printing up you photo. Follow the instructions on the sheets. Frame your picture in the yo yo maker Now just stitch Finished garland On the tree (on my deck) |
those are so cool.
