Hello All,

Can you tell me if the yellow Brick road patrtern is easy enough for a beginner? I would like to get the pattern but want to know what I am getting myself into before I look to purchase the pattern.

It was the first pattern I used. I liked it alot. Interesting that some of the experienced quilters in my group have a harder time with it because they don't read the pattern and just jump in and then it doesn't work out. Make sure you read the pattern and do as it says. I like this pattern lots.

Another easy 1st timer pattern is Turning 20. Nice big squares with 20 fat quarters.

Yes, it's easy. Another good one for beginners is Lucky Stars by Atkinson Designs. It's designed in such a way that there is very little matching of seams. The star part has an extended background that you trim back to the correct size after piecing. Then it's bordered all the way around with rectangles. Very pretty, I've done several.

YBR is a great pattern. Just make sure to make the blocks in sets, as it states.
Her patterns in general are fun. The Lucky Stars is wonderful, since you don't have to match those points! :)
Happy sewing, and please share pics! :)

as long as you are NOT an over thinker....this pattern nearly drove my sister nuts, it was her first quilt and she could not just sew it together, everything had to be analyzed so that the same fabric was no where near a matching one..it was insane to watch...

BUT, the YBR, the turning 20 original, just can't cut it, and the BQ2 are all super for beginners.

I love the Yellow Brick Road pattern!! Easy, fast, just follow the steps in the order given. I've taught it a number of times to beginners, I like the using 6 fat qtrs. for a lap quilt with the borders. Have fun with this pattern, I've made about 30 of them!!
