Goddess....Those are too funny. Thankfully, I haven't received such information about a friends C-Section...but I do think that this is hysterical!! I can just imagine some quilters I know that would appreciate it.
|
...you've wondered if the design on the toilet paper in your bathroom would make a good top stitching design. Maybe even for the quilt you got the idea for while looking on the bathroom floor.

You knoow you're a quilter when it's your birthday and the gifts that are NOT fabric or patterns are wrapped in pretty paper from McCall's that are quilt block paper.

What a wonderful thing, Nora. You just amaze me with your creativity! Now I wish I would have been more careful with my daughters drawings when she was small. More recently a neighbor boy brought me his name on a piece of paper for first time. He was so proud he wanted me to have it. Well it was on my fridge for a year and then they moved away. I finally tossed it. :( His letters weren't together in a line, but all on the same sheet of paper. What an accomplishment for the little guy! I remember how hard he struggled and how frustrating it was for him. I am a bad person. Bad Boo!

The foot that can be used that has multiple needles is called a "felting" foot. It is usually used with wool fibers which are then embedded into the fabric.

You know you're a quilter when you jump in the car to drive 35 miles one way to hit a sale of fabric 50% off and don't even think about the price of gas. Did that last Saturday and only bought 19 yards.
Mary |
when.... you look at your chickens and think" I wish I had some fabric like that". and yes I do!
|
ONLY 19 yards???

With the price of gas she had to make the trip worthwhile!
|
Most of the time I hate my tiny house...but not at the moment. I'm kinda glad that I don't have room for 5 yards let alone 19....I'm sure the checkbook is happy too.
|
If you saw how much I have already. I've got fabric in the sewing room, so much i can't get in there any more. There is fabric stored in my son's room, the son that has moved out, fabric in the closet, fabric under the bed in the guest room and of course where my machine is set up.
Nancy runs this sale every year around Memorial Day. This year is was a couple of weeks early because she has a graduation to go to. Mary |
Maybe someday when all the kids move out....that inpires another one:
You know youre a quilter when you map out and design your quilting room when the children move out....and they are only 3,4, and 5!! |
You know you are a quilter when: You get up in middle of night to go to bathroom and end up in your sewing room instead of back in bed.
Yes, I saw that machine you are talking about, not something I would ever spend money on however. Was it called a felter? |
You know your a guilter when your daughter moves back home and has to share her bedroom with a nine foot quilting rack.

 i must be a quilter. i'm always recruiting new ones. just got back from a nice long visit with my buddy in Naples, FL. i left behind (accidentally on purpose) a brand new 12" square ruler, rotary cutter and mat, plus a PIG. when i called to let her know i'd made it all the way home, she told me she'd been to the store and ended up bringing home ... what else? ... more fabric! The PIG is now a UFO. :P |
It's good you had time to teach with all the shopping that goes with those kind of visits!!
|
omigosh!!! we shopped til i dropped! LOL
i didn't do much teaching. i just showed her the board; she saw a block she really liked and started pulling out the fabrics we'd bought and choosing which to use for what. she wants to see how much she can figure out for herself before i get a chance to "teach". she's a smart cookie, so i may not be needed. [sniffle, sniffle.] |
She may not need you but we need you all the time. So no need to sniffle.
|
|
Patrice, I know what a UFO is, but what is a PIG? thanks!
|
project in grocery bag
|
I think pigs are my favorite. The first time I told dh about them he asked if I was working on a herd!!!! Cracked me up.
Glad to see you back Patrice. Maybe Tim isn't so happy, but I know I am!! |
thankyou, thankyou, thankyou :-)
if he isn't happy, i'm pretty sure he'll pretend to be. i wouldn't want him to know i said so, but he's a smart cookie. |
Hey there Sister! Glad to hear you had fun! So.......you started a new one...oh you of little quilts! Hee Hee!
|
I'm really surprised he didn't respond to that!! I've had a few lengthy posts with him before. He is really smart and he does things with math that I certainly don't get.
oh and You know you're a quilter when you have a macy's size inventory of shoe boxes all filled with 4" hexagons made of scraps for that grandmother's garden you are going to make someday when you have enough fabric. |

You know you're a quilter when...
--You were a poor math student in high school, yet you are able to figure out exactly how much fabric you would need to make a quilt you've planned out. --You think you can run the little handheld thingy (that spits out the price stickers) they have at the fabric section of your Wal-Mart just because you've seen it at work so many times. --You've gone to a friend's house to stay one night there and you bring your quilting stuff (quilt project, graph paper for ideas, etc.)..."just in case". --You got fabric for your birthday. |
That birthday one is definately right. I got 10 completely mismatched fat quarters last week. WOOO HOOO. No clue what to do with them yet, but my stash needed fed.
|
My daughter gave me several peices of flannel for Easter. Her Dad got candy but I got fabric. I think I got the better deal! Plus I ate his candy
|
Good for you he didn't need the candy anyway. My 2 favorite things fabric and candy to give me energy to use the fabric
|
When they come out with the first "Quilted Northern" commercial and you call them to say what they are showing isn't quilting but knitting. And they fix it! I did call about this.
|
This machine is pretty cool. It's an automatic felting machine. It works great when you're felting wool roving onto a base of wool felt. It takes much less time then a hand felting tool, but the machines are very expensive. I have lots of fun felting. but I'm not rich enough to buy a mchine. It's never occured to me to try felting dryer lint onto fabric, but it sounds like fun. I think I'll try it.

When... You barter for items in yardage amounts vs. dollar amounts... :D
|
There is a method I found to make crazy quilt blocks where the backing is used dryer sheets. I made one for the quilt ministry at my church and it is definitely the best smelling quilt ever :)
