1. ... You're at a professional conference, listening to a lecture by the preminent expert in the field and all you can think of is that the fabric of her dress is JUST what you've been seeking to finish your quilt!

2. ... You're walking to the next breakout session and looking at the carpet and wondering what that would look like as a OBW !!

(Dang! Can't upload carpet photo from blackberry!!)

mimom 05-12-2011 12:25 PM

or when sitting on the toilet staring at the tile on the floor and designing a new quilt block.

kiki1002 05-12-2011 12:38 PM

when you "steal" your friend's child's crayons at the restraunt so that you can practice your quilting pattern on the paper tablecloth before the drinks come. Hey, when do you get to practice on paper that big?

Sweeterthanwine 05-12-2011 01:19 PM

When you can't pass up a fabric store without stopping and buying more faric even tho you have 25 shelves full of fabric already.

DogHouseMom 05-12-2011 01:23 PM

When you can't fall asleep because quilt "math" and images of blocks keep popping into your head.

Beachbound 05-12-2011 01:29 PM

When you come home with a full shopping bag & find a box from Fabric.com waiting on the porch....

auntmag 05-12-2011 01:36 PM

Been there, done that.

Stitchnripper 05-12-2011 02:25 PM

Mostly all of the above. I have a very small stash, mostly remnants from Hobby Lobby or Hancock's and some garage sale finds.

soccertxi 05-12-2011 02:39 PM

when my family has to take me by the arm to guide me thru a hotel lobby while I snap pictures of the carpet. Or when they have to wait for me to 'just run back real quick and get a quick pictures of the wall in the elevator. I could QUILT that!' yes..you are one of a sisterhood! ...or is that 'quilter-hood'?

sweetpea 05-12-2011 02:47 PM

when you at church with a friend and copy the front of the church for a quilt.

kheliwud 05-12-2011 03:08 PM

**teehee** when you fantasize about quilting ALL THE TIME!

MyWifeMadeME 05-12-2011 03:11 PM

Or, you buy commercial fabric display shelving at auction and install it in your home quilt studio??

LivelyLady 05-12-2011 03:16 PM

Calling out sick at work in order to stay in pjs all day and quilt. (I didn't really lie, I just told them "I am sick"....I left off "of work")

emerald46 05-12-2011 04:29 PM

When on vacation you stop at first LQS before checking into hotel.

Buckeye Rose 05-12-2011 04:39 PM

SewExtremeSeams 05-12-2011 04:44 PM

CarrieAnne 05-12-2011 04:44 PM

LOl, you dream of fabric!

Unique Creations 05-12-2011 04:55 PM

You have enough fabric in your stash to make 15-20 quilts easily, and all you can think about is collecting more fabrics for the new design that just popped into your head!!

Jim 05-12-2011 08:35 PM

when you have enough stash for 15 years but you STILL want to buy more

martyquilter 05-13-2011 02:47 AM

When you can't wait to go visit your kids, but part of it is to visit the quilt shops where they live.

nunnyJo 05-13-2011 03:20 AM

when you see a dress on a lady in church and your mind is on making a quilt like the pattern, need to pay more attention to the sermon. ha

Or when your family goes to a nice restaurant for your anniversary, & you start discreetly rubbing the tablecloth. Your son asks what is wrong, & your daughter rolls her eyes & says "She's trying to feel if it's cotton or not." (Guilty!)

You go the the Louvre in Paris and the only pictures you take are of the tile floor!!!

f rogers 05-13-2011 04:18 AM

I think there are many in the same boat. I has a pretty sunflower fabric. It had red and gray and black in it. and did't want to cut it up. but finally did and it turned out to be very pretty in the quilt.

sewmom 05-13-2011 04:20 AM

When all you want to do is work on a quilt and resent anything else that gets in the way like cooking, cleaning, yard work, or being invited somewhere that you'd really love to go to, but all you can think about is- but I want to sew these blocks together!

michelehuston 05-13-2011 04:23 AM

Instead of sleeping I plan my next quilt. It's good to have friends in the same boat!!

Dito I have done that. What's worse is that you spend your stashed cash that your DH didn't know you had, so you have to hide what you bought for a time & can't even play with it. So frustrating.

My friend and I intend to do this exact thing on Sunday!

LindaG 05-13-2011 05:10 AM

My name is LindaG and I am a quilt-a-holic. I am guilty of all the above and more............and PROUD of it!

ShowMama 05-13-2011 05:52 AM

You know you're a quilting addict when you're going along with your husband on a business trip and you check ahead for a quilt shop in that city, and then schedule a class and take your sewing machine along on the trip "for something to do while he's in meetings"! We drove from Central Texas to Indianapolis, I took my machine, and had a wonderful time in the class I had scheduled learning how to make scalloped borders. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

AudreyB 05-13-2011 05:55 AM

When your husband has to cook because you're too busy quilting.

mucky 05-13-2011 05:55 AM

Or when you wake up in the middle of the night planning your next quilt or deciding how to finish the one you are working on.

Sewer65 05-13-2011 06:00 AM

I was sure glad to read that reply.2 years ago I made our oldest grandson and his new wife a wedding quilt and used the design from our upstairs bathroom floor for the pattern. When I told my husband,he just laugh.
