Been there, done that. Got over it. Don't give it a second thought anymore.

I once made a quilt as a wedding present for someone who liked the same breed of dog as me. When her dog died she buried it with him. When I found out, I felt as though I had been slapped in the face.

I made my Mom a beautiful hand appliqued and hand quilted quilt and it is in a pillowcase in her closet. She says it is too beautiful to display?? I don't get it but have let it go. When she passes on it will come back to me and I will display it

I would take that a little differently. I bet that woman really loved her dog and wanted him to be wrapped in something with special meaning to her.

I got really offended when I worked really hard making my mother in law a table runner and placemats with matching napkins and she never used it. I was expecting to see it on thanksgiving sometime. Well I asked her about it years later and she said she thinks my father in law sold it at a garage sale!!!    I have vowed to never make her a quilt and if she asks me to I will tell her "no way, I'm afraid it will end up in a garage sale someday and that's way too much work and expense for that!"

why did she say "it doesn't smell" are you smokers? thats the only reason I would think she would say something like that but I wouldn't have said anything like that anyway! People have such nerve!

Nonsmokers-I was just too stunned to even think of a reply.

I insist on a Thank You and if I don't get one I phone.
People should have manners and no one is that busy that they can't take 5 minutes to say it.

I gave my new in-laws a quilt for a wedding present, its a lovely basket quilt. However the pieced side is never seen, only the back; has mardi gras fabric. It used to make me sad, but its not mine anymore. They're not getting any more quilts, SIL considers them blankets and therefore of no value.
