Some people can't appreciate "hand made" gifts. They consider them less that perfect being "home made".

Wonnie? i am not sure anyone has the right to ask someone to DISPLAY a gift.
And you know, some folks are just not thank-you types either. That said it is a bummer ok. Bummer as in rude? You bet! Pick and choose just who it is you give a quilt to, right? Julie |

Nope! A gift is given from a full heart with the hope that the recipient likes it and it brings happiness. On the flipside, I like it WHEN it is displayed.

I don't give quilts as gifts period....unless the intended recipient (usually a family member or close friend) has expressed a desire to have one. I actually have a friend who thinks patchwork is "tacky"......can you believe that?

I wonder if sometimes we all need to take a refresher course on APPRECIATION. Not just our quilting things or homemade things. Appreciation is valuing the person behind the generosity, whatever it might be.

I gave my mil a quilt 3 years ago and have only seen it on the bed once. I am disappointed since I matched the colors to the border in her bedroom. She also never displays the pictures of my sons that I have given her. There are pictures of my sil's dog but none of my sons.

I made a machine embroidered and appliqued baby quilt for a niece. It was a lot of time and details. When she opened it she barely pulled it out of the gift bag and said oh a blanket and stuck it back in the bag. I felt like going and taking it back. Her sister later went and got it out of the bag and properly admired it. I gave my parents a queen sized quilt they absolutely loved it. It is on their bed and they often tell me how much they like it. Their friends thought they should put it away and save it. They are in their 80"s
