Guests can attend my guild meetings for a five dollar fee if there is a speaker and free if not. This is a good way to try out a meeting and see if it is right for you. Ask if the guilds near you do this.

Please go to your meeting. You'll make new friends and be inspired. There are ALL levels of quilters at these meetings. Please don't be intimidated.

well I'm all set to go to a meeting if I can just find out where it is! On the website they list 2 different places.....I emailed and it bounced back to me. I just tried a different email to them so maybe that one will go thru. Now that I've convinced myself to go I'd like to do it this month!

The nearest guild here is 18 miles away in Fort Smith, and I have no car. BUT there is a little "group" that meets at the church. Sure is handy for me. Sis and I go and use their nice BIG tables for pinning, and it is fun to quilt and talk with friends.

I am in a guild. It started 7 years ago with just 11 members but grew rapidly. At one point a small group in the guild just hijacked everything - ("my way or the highway.") and it became very militant. Many good people dropped out.
But now it is much better. There are 75 members - enough that you can find kindred souls and good friends. Many guild members form their own smaller groups that meet in homes every week. Those are great! If you are a beginner or make lots of mistakes, the guild members will love you and help you! |
I know this post is like a year old, but i'm curious as to which guild you went to. was it the charleston one? if so how did you like it? i'm thinking of going to the June meeting.....
