I have the Pfaff QE 4.2. I like the large and lighted harp space which was the main reason for buying a new machine. I do FMQ on all of my quilts, so the extra space is great. I use the setting that automatically raises the presser just enough to turn the fabric all the time, especially nice for machine applique but also piecing. I had been using a Pfaff since I began quilting over 10 years ago, so already liked the IDT system and other features. I don't think you can go wrong with a Pfaff.

I bought my first Pfaff in Germany 41 years ago and have been using them ever since--I own 6 of them. I am a very satisfied Pfaffie. My 1473 that I bought probably 30 or more years ago still sews like a dream. Two of mine are combo sewing/embroidery machines.

I have a Pfaff, which I purchase some 20 years ago. I had some issues while FMQing, however, I was a novice and probably was the problem. The only downside to the Pfaff, IMHO, is the curved front. It does not fit well into an acrylic stand, which enlarges the quilting space. I now use a Brothers INNOVA-is 2000.

I have an older Pfaff (2038). I love it..except the foot lift lever is on the right side (inside the harp area) instead of behind. I've had it in for a fix once as the lever works only some of the time now. And its about to go in again for the same problem. Its very frustrating. The harp area isn't as large as the newer models and my work gets caught on it. But she sews wonderfully! I have considered trading it in on a newer model to get a larger harp and no lever in the way!

I have two Pfaff mahines and a serger. I love my Pfaffs. Been using them for several years now have tried others and have gone ack to Pfaff.

I also have a Pfaff again not the same as you are inquiring about but I love it. The only thing I miss that my Janome had is what I call cruise control . I used it a lot for doing machine applique... I love the built in walking foot and I have a lot of fancy stitches which is one of the features that I was drawn to.

I love my Pfaff machines and have not had any problems with the touch screens or anything else for that matter. Have had various Pfaff machines for over 30 years and even that first one(a 1471) still sews like a charm. Even the gizmo loaded embroidery machine has been trouble free.
I use a Performance 5.0 for my piecing but love the fancy stitches and use them whenever I can. Love the IDT and the stitch quality and the generous harp space is nice for piecing. |
I too am a big Pfaff supporter. Love my creative 5.0

I don't even know where I could get a Pfaff around here, oddly, because it's a brand I've known and admired forever. I would say that whatever machine of whatever brand you get, find out where the nearest factory authorized service is available. Not everyone who sells machines is authorized to do warranty work.

I am a Pfaff owner too, my favorite of all time is the 7570, upgraded to the Creative Sensation a few years ago but kept my 7570. Hope it lasts forever!!! Sorry I can't help you with your choice just thought I'd share my experience!!! Good luck!!!
