1. Don't cut when tired.
2. Read the instructions start to finish on a new pattern.
3. Make a sample block.
4. When frustration hits, walk away.
5. Don't EVER let some nitwit in the LQS talk you out of your plans and replace it with their idea of what it "good quilting"

My only rule is:
1. It's good enough
seams, getting sharp points, selection in a new quilt shop, patterns, etc
So many things are 'good enough' if looked at in a different light

1. Never cut at night (the lighting stinks in the cutting area at night).
2. Keep a pin cushion and seam ripper in every room. It saves time.
3. Always check measurements on all blocks/sashes/borders before ripping them for the 3rd time. Sometimes the mistake is somewhere else and has "traveled".
4. Press seams.
5. Hot irons look just like cold irons so don't catch one as it falls to the floor.

#5 is really important. Ask me how I know.

In the short time I've been quilting, I've learned.
1. Stop when you're tired.
2. Don't be afraid to ask for help.....that's what this Quilting Board is for!!!
3. Never leave work unattended in the same room as the puppy!
4. Everyone has an opinion. Just because someone has been quilting longer than I have...doesn't make them right. If I like that color contrast it's all that matters!
5. Get ready to make lots of new friends! Quilters are wonderful people!!!!
